NEG-US Glass Fiber includes the former PPG Glass Fiber business unit in the Americas, as well as Sales and Marketing resources that import products from other NEG locations. The NEG acquisition of PPG’s US Glass Fiber operation was completed on September 1, 2017. The US operation has been in existence since 1959 and includes three manufacturing sites in the Carolinas (Shelby, NC, Lexington, NC and Chester, SC). There is also a Research & Development site in Shelby, NC and a Sales/Business office in the Pittsburgh area. In total, NEG-US employs close to one thousand people in a wide variety of commercial, technical, manufacturing and business roles.
The Glass Fiber Division manufactures a range of thermoplastic and thermoset compatible direct roving and chopped strand products, along with continuous strand mat, multi-end roving and wet used chopped strands. These products and NEG’s technical and commercial resources support a wide range of applications in the market – including transportation, wind energy, oil and gas piping, infrastructure and construction. NEG’s glass fiber is used as the primary reinforcement in these applications.

JOB FUNCTION:
Quality Assurance:
- Manage all aspects of the quality assurance department including personnel, maintenance of quality documentation and standards, quality audits, customer feedback & responses, department budget, and other areas relating to product quality and reporting requirements.
- Provide the overall direction and leadership to assure the highest level of product quality while working closely with operations leadership to deliver a coordinated effort and focus towards this goal.
- Collect and interpret customer product requirements and specifications (Critical to Quality requirements)
- Assure product quality meets all established product standards. This includes development and maintenance of quality standards (ISO 9001:2015) in accordance with customer specifications and that these standards are properly documented and adhered to by all levels of the organization.
- Lead and coordinate responses to quality complaints and assure steps are taken to resolve such complaints in a timely manner.
- Assure product testing is completed in accordance with NEG and customer specifications and that such testing is structured to provide feedback to the earliest source of the process to assure quality standards are maintained (and corrected if necessary).
- Visit customers to assess customer product requirements.
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of multiple projects.
- Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant internal stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
- Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress.
- Measure performance using appropriate project management tools and techniques.
- Perform risk management to minimize potential risks.
- Meet with clients to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project.
- Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors.
- Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis.
- A degree in Engineering is preferred for this position with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing or related operations.
- The incumbent must be thoroughly familiar with lean systems, Lean Six Sigma, customer CTQ’s, Cpk’s, and other quality tools & processes.
- Possess leadership skills necessary to influence and lead the product quality process at all levels of the organization.
- ISO 9001:2015 experience.
- Proven working experience in project management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus.
