Under broad supervision, secures and analyzes quotations and negotiates prices and terms with U.S. and international suppliers, subject to management approval, for the purchase of fixed assets, parts, tooling, materials, and/or services. Develops and recommends sources of supply. Expedites the procurement of parts and/or materials in short or critical supply. Coordinates quality matters, engineering, and price changes between company components and suppliers. Develops and implements long-term sourcing strategies. Average annual dollar buy: $75 to $150 million. Role typically requires between 3 and 5 years of experience.

Authority and Responsibility
This person is responsible for insuring that all inventory items are on time. Also, making sure to get the right quantity of materials at the right price.


General Duties

  • Set up re-order quantities in system
  • Set up a part number system
  • Develop inventory disbursement/tracking system, including entering data for quantities or parts received, issued, inventory and cycle count adjustment, into computer database
  • Troubleshoot quantity discrepancies with manufacturing personnel
  • Prepare monthly inventory reports
  • Prepare and participate in yearly physical inventory
  • Prepare all Purchase Order forms, including pricing
  • Negotiate and constantly ensure best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements.
  • Monitor inbound freight for outages
  • Work with Engineering department on purchasing/inventory of new parts
  • Perform work with a constant awareness of improving processes necessary for positive growth
  • Act as a sounding board for others prior to decisions. This position is looked upon by others as a resource for them. Make excellent decisions that result in improved production and workflow.

  • Able to achieve through working knowledge of Peachtree Purchasing/Inventory Control System, purchasing policies, processes and procedures
  • Able to achieve complete knowledge of warehouse and inventory control policies and procedures
  • Able to achieve extensive knowledge of material work planning and methods, engineering processes and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
