We are looking for a dedicated Purchaser to join our team. The person reports to the Administrative Manager and is responsible for identifying suppliers, researching goods and services, processing purchase orders, and verifying delivered items.

To be successful as a Purchaser you should be able to critically assess suppliers, products, and services, and negotiate the best possible deals. Ultimately, an outstanding Purchasing Agent has a keen sense of business and maintains meticulous transaction records. Experince in a machine shop is helpful but not required.

Purchaser/Admin Asst. Responsibilities:

  • Researching and comparing suppliers, goods, and services.
  • Selecting the most suitable suppliers in terms of reliability, product quality, and cost-efficiency.
  • Monitoring inventory levels and determining purchase needs.
  • Requesting cost proposals and negotiating contracts and prices.
  • Preparing and processing purchase orders.
  • Maintaining records of all transactions, purchase orders, receipts, and payments.
  • Scheduling and verifying purchase deliveries.
  • Building and maintaining positive, long-term supplier relations.
  • Receive items and distribute to requester - individual or department. Record any discrepancies.
  • Maintain pricing on Bills of Material and update as necessary.
  • Other office duties as required

How will you play an integral role?

  • Ordering and purchasing parts, tools, materials, etc. for manufacturing, engineering, and design teams.
  • Organize, prioritize, and track information and data; generating various reports as needed
  • Answering calls and routing messages for location
  • Maintaining filing and tracking systems
  • Sends written or email correspondence; receives and distributes purchased product.
  • Ordering materials and supplies as needed
  • Responds to requests for information, and performs any other administrative duties as directed
  • Act as a liaison with other departments as well as outside agencies, including high-level staff
  • Handles non-routine information with confidentiality
  • Receiving product and shipping customer orders.

  • Communication - Position requires demonstrating poise, tact, confidentiality, and diplomacy. Ability to communicate professionally to visitors, customers, and employees in person and on the phone.
  • Result-driven - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities. High level of attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
  • Collaboration - Ability to work and coordinate cross-functionally. Must have a high level of team player mindset.

Are you qualified for the position?

  • Knowledge of QuickBooks is essential
  • Mechanical/Manufacturing background is desirable, but not a requirement
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required
  • Some college preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in a purchasing role preferred
  • Knowledge of office administrative procedures
  • Proficient in MS Office Applications primarily Word and Excel
