The Opportunity

Big Thirst is on the hunt for a creative, highly motivated person to join our team as a part-time Public Relations Manager to provide communications services for our beverage clients. We are a nimble group of creatives, PR people, digital media folks, and web designers who totally geek out about beverages. We have deep alcohol industry experience and expertise to connect our clients with consumers. Want to join us? The Role

The PR Manager will play a key role in directly supporting clients. They will coordinate press announcements and media events, influencer/media relations, content creation, and media coverage reporting. Additionally, they maintain key documents including databases, calendars, and trackers.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Provide strategic guidance and develop public relations plans to coordinate with the full marketing mix to achieve business results.
  • Have strong writing skills, and the ability to craft and distribute communications materials including news releases, pitch emails, email newsletters, and other deliverables.
  • Create and maintain media and influencer lists using the Muck Rack media relationship management tool.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and frequently engage with journalists, influential bloggers, and influential social media personalities to generate national, trade, and local media coverage as well as social media testimonials, and handle routine media inquiries.
  • Frequently develop creative story ideas to generate media coverage between news announcements and help our client brands stand out among their competitors.
  • Regularly hold media interviews with journalists in key markets in person, and virtually to introduce the brands in top-tier publications.
  • Schedule broadcast briefings for clients to appear on prominent TV and radio shows in priority markets.
  • Coordinate events and promotions, as well as represent clients at events.
  • Be a capable planner, skilled at managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Be meticulous in attention to detail, communications, and schedules, often under tight deadlines.
  • Be able to function autonomously and effectively as part of a dispersed team working in various locations.
  • Be a clear, candid, and succinct communicator.
  • Have a solid grasp of the wine and spirits industry. Extra credit if you are clever, witty, and have previous experience working with alcohol brands.

Qualifications

We are looking for a team player who can deliver results and is prone to think creatively. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, must be a self-starter, detailed-oriented, resourceful, and able to multi-task and prioritize under deadlines. Additional qualifications include:

  • 4 to 6 years of PR or equivalent work experience, preferably in an agency.
  • A proven track record of successful PR campaigns.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  • Aptitude in presentation and public speaking.
  • Must be willing to work some nights and some weekends.
  • Must have the ability to travel to client sites.
