Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner’s primary responsibility will be to provide clinical oversight and care to client/patient ensuring that all feasible needs are satisfied where possible. They will be responsible for a variety of clinical activities, such as assessing, evaluating and coordinating plans of treatment. The ideal candidate is proficient in Microsoft Office and Spanish. As part of the team, you will be providing MEDRITE services and excellent care for migrant populations. The pay rate for this position is $65-75 per hour.

The capacity to listen to patients speaking Spanish and problem solve within means is essential for every position on this project. All staff members must be considerate and kind to patients. Team member must be flexible, solution-focused with attention to detail, ability to quickly process and disseminate information to patients, team, and leaders. Must possess strong supervisory qualities, as well as the capacity to train others. The majority of the patient population speaks Spanish (preferred), but fluency in other languages, including French, Creole, Haitian, Wolof, and ASL, is a benefit.

Responsibilities:

· Escort clients, when indicated, on appointments with community -based treatment providers.

· Oversees the direct implementation of nursing care to ensure that it is carried out in accordance with the plan of nursing intervention and overall treatment /service plan and to ascertain if the needs of the client require modification of the plan.

· Conduct in-reach to hospitals and residences, engaging consumers and assessing for medical and psychiatric support needs in the community.

· Conduct home visits to clients who have transitioned to the community.

· Provides health education/teaching for clients and their families.

· Provides information and conducts group discussions on various health topics.

· Provide clarification of clinical diagnosis.

· Recommend treatment options.

· Review patients progress.

· Prescribe psychotropic medication as appropriate for client care.

Qualifications:

· Proficiency in Spanish

· Knowledge of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)

· Outstanding writing and verbal communication abilities.

· Strong organizational abilities as well as the capacity to multitask.

· Appropriate Licensure
