Job Overview
The
Georgetown University Center for Child and Human Development (GUCCHD)
is implementing the Parenting Support Program (PSP), a promising practices home visiting program designed to support parents with intellectual and developmental disabilities funded through DC Health. The primary focus of the program is to identify, assess, and deliver services to vulnerable families and children to improve their health, education and well-being.
The PSP Home Visitor Supervisor directs day-to-day responsibilities of all full time Home Visitors, coordinating all home visiting activities to ensure a cohesive program that makes efficient use of DC Health resources in the implementation of the Parenting Support Program.
- Leads the active recruitment, intake and enrollment of families; and oversees the implementation of the Parenting Support Program
- Trains, or ensures training opportunities for, the Home Visitors on all aspects of the program, to include curricula and program training; training on screening and assessment tools; data collection tools and reporting systems; and navigating service systems that support families and children
- Provides oversight for accurate and timely documentation of all home visiting activities with a particular focus on demographic and service utilization, data collection and reporting of performance measurement data into multiple systems.
- Meets on a weekly basis to provide reflective supervision for all Home Visitors, conducts quarterly visits to participating families to ensure quality delivery of services, and meets with the PI/Clinical Director for weekly supervision
- Oversees and follows the status of referrals to ensure children and families are connected to the support services they need
- Coordinates with DC Health and other early intervention and family-serving programs to ensure effective coordination and delivery of critical health, developmental, early learning, child abuse and neglect prevention, as well as family support services to children and families who choose to participate in the home visiting program

The roles and responsibilities of this position align with the overall GUCCHD mission of addressing and improving the quality of life for all children and youth and their families.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator/Clinical Director on project related matters, the PSP Home Visitor Advisor collaborates with the Principal Investigator/Clinical Director and supervises the home visitors. In addition, they interface with individuals within the circle of support for the families, and other service providers and District agencies that provide services to families.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, elementary education, family or adult education, social work, or a related field
- At least two (2) years of direct work experience with families and young children in their homes
- Supervisory experience in a service system
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability perform basic computer functions such as word processing and internet use
- Excellent judgement and knowledge of parenting skills
- Cultural competence in dealing with parents with intellectual disabilities and working with a wide variety of parental skill levels
- Knowledgeable about community resources in Washington, DC.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
- Demonstrable experience in accurate documentation of data entry and use with systems capturing data frequent reporting into multiple platforms
- Ability to use electronic equipment to input data via laptop computer
- Willingness and availability to adjust work schedule (i.e., evenings/weekends) when necessary to meet parent availability
