Role Summary:
As a Proposal Engineer you will be working in a team of professionals on initial designs and cost estimates for all custom solutions. Pepperl+Fuchs is a global leader in process safety and provides the basis for your future expertise and allows for creativity in designing custom systems for our clients. The Proposal Engineer will work closely with the customer, Sales, Product Managers, Technical Teams, Leadership and other key staff to collect required commercial and technical information, analyze the data and prepare labor and material estimates for solution-based projects that include Pepperl+Fuchs’ products, all in support of delivering a winning proposal that is technically accurate, commercially viable and company compliant.

The Proposal Engineer will:

• Collect, review and analyze customer requirements and specifications
• Work with personnel to generate the best competitive technical solution while maximizing Pepperl+Fuchs’ position and satisfying customer requirements
• Generate technical and commercial proposals using the best competitive solution composed of Pepperl+Fuchs and third-party suites of products and services in an efficient and timely manner
• Help define the team’s priorities, ensure process/certification compliance, guide & nurture growth, and suggest process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy & on-time delivery
• Provide motivational teamwork, fostering a team environment driven to deliver innovative, quality products
• Generate cost and pricing sheets to report sell price, profit and costs to business leadership
• Collaborate with the Sales team to determine appropriate pricing & strategy required to win
• Coordinate proposal activities with the appropriate personal including but not limited to the Proposal team, Sales, Engineering, Product Management and external contacts / vendors
• Attend customer meetings, as required, in support of the sales team to provide technical and commercial support related to application, industry, certification and safety
• Be a change agent and support speed and agility
• Promote innovation and drive continuous improvement and efficiency
• Translate concepts, develop strategy, and implement change
• Demonstrate customer focus and passion to win in a challenging environment

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required, in one of the following disciplines: Engineering-Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering.

(or) Two year technical degree and minimum of two years of related experience

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:

• Ability to accurately interpret customer specifications and technical designs including the non-technical aspects of the requirements
• Clear leadership skills with a focus on team morale, growth and efficiency
• Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask while coordinating multiple priorities
• Skill to work, and be effective, as part of a cross-functional team with good follow-up
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Positive can-do attitude and technically creative thought process
• Talent to interface effectively with all levels of the organization
• Experience in CAD is preferred
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, CEC, and explosion protection techniques is preferred but not necessary
• Familiarity with a panel shop environment is a plus
