The Property Accounting Manager is responsible for maintaining the overall integrity of multi-family property financial records. On-going responsibilities include month-end close process, financial statement preparation, internal support with accounting related issues, and other month-end procedures. This position oversees developing and managing a team of property accountants.

What You’ll Do…

  • Supervise accounting functions such as cash management/reconciliation, A/R, A/P, balance sheet reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.
  • Support and assist on site team members with functions related to the entry of property financial data.
  • Review monthly reconciliations and research variance and questionable items.
  • Provide training, leadership, motivation, and support to property accounting team to deliver superior performance and results.
  • Manage the monthly closing process to ensure accuracy of financial packages and meet internal and external deadlines.
  • Review work performed by property accountants such as reconciliations, mortgage payments, bank reconciliations, income statements, and general ledger postings.
  • Collaborate with operations and other departments to resolve property accounting questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and implementing solutions and efficient processes.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to financial management and accounting.
  • Facilitate communication amongst multiple departments to create excellent working relationships and ensure proper bookkeeping setup and timely collections.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding financial results and special reporting requests from internal and external parties.
  • Maintain financial security by establishing and enforcing internal controls.
  • Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.

What You’ll Need to Qualify…

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from a four-year college or university required.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience required.
  • 3+ years of real estate experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience preferred.
