Bookkeeper/Accountant

As a member of the accounting team, the Bookkeeper will provide support in several key areas relating to residential accounting including general ledger journal entries, cash management, and assisting with the month-end and year-end close process.

Responsibilities include:

· Track and record incoming and outgoing cash/checks effectively on a daily basis to ensure timely recording of activity in accounting system and resolve discrepancies.

· Reconcile and manage security deposit accounts and send updates to bank as necessary. Send required notifications to residents (interest in move-ins) as required.

· Process/reconcile weekly rent deposits, wait list accounts, and manual bank deposits.

· Post and review renewals, move-ins, and roommate changes.

· Manage monthly water invoices.

· Invoice and enter utility bills (gas and electric) for residents.

· Assist with month end and year end journal entries for residential properties.

· Preparing financial and operational reports as requested.

· Assist with commercial property year-end books/projects.

· Process monthly billings.

  • Excellent verbal/communication skills and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, 10 key adding machines and ability to learn new software
  • High attention to detail
  • Fast learner
  • Knowledge of office management systems, computers, and procedures
  • Proficient at multi-tasking and ability to prioritize work
  • MRI experience desired

Associate’s Degree in Accounting or 3-5 years of related experience (billing and accounts receivable).
