Job Description
The Program Manager is a member of the Diversity Education and Engagement Team and is responsible for coordinating event logistics for all major Office for Inclusion and Diversity programs and events. This includes four Diversity Education and Engagement unit signature events: the Inclusive VT Summit, the InclusiveVT Welcome, the Advancing Diversity Gathering, and the Principles of Community Week. The Program Manager also supports event details related to the Future Faculty Diversity Program, the Faculty Women of Color in the Academy Conference, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration, and the Black College Institute. The position also supports quarterly Diverse Professionals Network programs and ad-hoc programming, including Juneteenth event at Solitude.
Program Manager responsibilities include administering contractual agreements with guest speakers, reserving venues, arranging technology needs, setting up registration systems, working with external vendors for live captioning, catering, transportation, and lodging as needed. Additional responsibilities include working with internal partners such as the fiscal team for purchases and reimbursements; the communications team for publicity, managing inquiries, and ensuring that all events are welcoming and accessible; and the data and technology team for administering surveys and feedback.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in hospitality or relevant area; or extensive experience in event management, event planning or customer service.
Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse teams
Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion
Ability to multi-task and ability to pay attention to details.
Strong organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with Virginia Tech and / or state university policies and procedures.
