ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Abide by standards as set forth in the Program Manager performance evaluation
Demonstrate professionalism in the interactions with staff and individuals served as evidenced by:

- Maintaining a calm approach in dealing with crisis situations
Maintain on-going communication with assigned Program Director and agency Nurse
- Ensure the safety of employee and Individuals served by SARAH SENECA
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills
- Participate with rotating “On call” responsibility as scheduled
Provide and oversee DSP completion of daily progress notes and other related documentation for each individual through Therap and/or any other DDS or SARAH SENECA approved EVV or handwritten data collection system. All documentation must be completed in accordance with required timeframes. This includes but not limited to grocery and van mileage
Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations governing services provided by SARAH SENECA to individuals supported.
- Undertake full program staff (DSP’s) supervision responsibilities which include:
- Performance evaluations
- Positive/Progressive discipline
- Interacting with staff in a manner which fosters cooperation and initiative
- Create staff schedules and ensure the needs of the program are met through appropriate staffing levels and staff qualifications.
Maintain a respectful approach with all interpersonal interactions. This includes but is not limited to:
- The individuals we support, their families and guardians
- All agency staff
- Medical, dental & behavioral professionals and consultants
- People in the community
- Vendors & Contractors
- DDS Personnel
- Address complaints made by employees and third parties
- Support & oversee each individual in carrying out all aspects of medical and personal care
- Support & oversee each individual in all aspects of their programming
- Support & oversee each individual in all aspects of personal finances
- Support & oversee each individual in all aspects of state & federal entitlements
- Implement and train staff on agency policies and procedures, personnel guidelines & house protocols
- Oversee & effectively manage DDS, DSS and agency budgets
- Maintain certifications in: Med Administration, CPR/First Aid, and PMT
- Chair and keep minutes for regularly scheduled House Meetings
ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Ensure a relaxed atmosphere when working in an individual’s home
- Respect individual’s choice regarding people who work within or visit their home
- Work with each individual to optimize their personal space through adequate storage and attractive furnishings which express the individual's tastes
- Ensure that each individual receives positive individualized attention according to needs
- Participate & contribute to Individual Planning meetings
- Attend all required in-service trainings
- Keep administrative team aware of all relevant program site information.
- Transport individuals to appointments and activities
- Manage Physical Plant and Vehicle maintenance by calling vendors and contacting Administration
- Perform all other duties as required and as assigned by SARAH SENECA Residential Services, Inc.
SUPERVISED BY:
- As designated by Executive Director
- Specific areas of supervision: Administrative Team including
- Assistant Executive Director, Program Directors, RNs, RN Coordinator, HR, Bookkeeper -Accountant
SCHEDULE:
- Non-exempt position; full-time hours
- Occasional calls during off-shift timeframes
- Participate with rotating “On Call” responsibility as scheduled
- Flexible hours as required by program.
- This includes providing periodic “Spot Check” hours that need to occur on each regularly staffed shift & day: (i.e. 6am-2pm; 2pm-10pm; 10pm-6am, weekdays, weekends)
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or applicable management experience in residential services.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
- Previous management experience and/or (2-3) years applicable experience in a residential setting working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Valid State of Connecticut driver’s license; Employee must be insurable by the agency's insurance carrier
- Provide own transportation when needed.
- American Red Cross CPR and First Aide certification; State of Connecticut Medication Administration certification
