The Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) is a neighborhood-based, nonprofit, multi-service organization founded in 1964. Our mission is to promote social and physical well-being and encourage growth, self-reliance and dignity throughout every stage of life. Today, the Isaacs Center endeavors to provide effective and innovative community-based programs that reach 6,000 children and families, disconnected youth, and isolated and homebound seniors in Yorkville and East Harlem each year.


Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Community Engagement and Success, the Program Coordinator focuses on the overall experience of community members for the Older Adult Center, Youth Services, and the Food and Nutrition Department. From their initial experience to engagement and participation in programming through effective communication and interaction. The Program Coordinator will build and grow a community-based focus that moves community members and consultants along a continuum from a casual connection to a committed level of involvement and delivery.


Schedule: Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week


Salary Range:
$43,751- $54,689


  • Provide supervision and oversight of the part-time community Engagement Specialist to support the achievement of program goals

  • In collaboration with the Education and Workforce (EDW) Advance and Earn, SYEP, & WPP programs, recruit and supervise a minimum of 2-3 EDW student interns quarterly to support Intergen and Community Engagement program efforts

  • Provide administrative support and leadership to staff and community members through organizing and planning programs and events.

  • Assist with planning, implementing, managing, and evaluating current programs, projects, special events, and outreach such as intergenerational programming.

  • Work closely with Program Directors in the budgeting, forecasting, and planning process.

  • Suggest and assist in the execution of mechanisms including surveys, and other ways for communicating with, and receiving feedback from the membership and community members.

  • Assist with a community needs assessment to determine community needs.

  • Identify, cultivate, and strengthen existing and new relationships with community members and consultants through communication and interaction.

  • Effectively respond to program-related inquiries from community members, staff, and vendors

  • Perform data entry to support the flow of data and statistics for internal reporting and contract requirements.

  • Conduct outreach by tabling at local hospitals, clinics, community meetings, etc.


Qualifications

  • Experience and success working in partnership with community members and community organizations.

  • Success at managing a wide array of tasks and projects and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff, community members, and vendors.

  • A willingness to work select nights and weekends and to occasionally adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the role and programming.

  • Excellent organization and planning skills.


Education/Skills/Experience

  • HS Diploma: Associate Degree preferred and 2 years of relevant experience with NYCHA community members of all ages

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Publisher.

  • CPR certified and AED/First Aid Certified or required to achieve certification in 6 months

  • Required to work the occasional evening as per program needs.

  • Required to work on either Thanksgiving or Christmas
