About the Role
The product data governance department is responsible for developing a strong understanding of team data requirements driving data governance and promoting education in Data Governance across the company. The Manager of Product Data Governance will serve as a key influencer in creating, maintaining, and driving adoption of product data governance standards across the Ariat organization. The Manager will work closely with the Sr. Director of Product Data Governance, Business Data Owners/Stewards, and IT ensuring that policies, processes, and standards are defined and adhered to. They must be a self-starter who is a motivated and highly adaptive team player, has managed a team, and has a track record of managing product data governance in the Footwear and Apparel industry.
You’ll Make a Difference By
- Managing product data steward team and oversee the day-to-day operations of the team, engaging with business partners to adhere to and maintain the master data governance processes
- Creating, executing, and Managing data governance strategy, practices, and requirements
- Exhibiting strong relationship management skills to ensure data owners, data stewards, and data custodians serve as a liaison between Business and Functional areas
- Collaborating with Business and IT Data Management teams in building and monitoring Master Data workflows, Master Data quality, Standardization and Metrics to develop, enable and advance data governance and stewardship capabilities
- Establishing and Formalizing Process - data preparation, data stewardship, and data quality (Assist in the continuous improvement of the Data Governance Program that includes roles & responsibilities, coordination with business leads, and related process & tools for success measurement)
- Partnering with various team members such as Sales and Product Managers to help identify data that is needed in reporting and execute and follow through to completion (Establish and maintain data standards, definitions, processes, and rules in relationship to product attributes to ensure data integrity and quality)
- Continuing to expand the information model, business data glossary, data mapping, and key features of the attributes
- Documenting key product attributes (data flows, data usages, etc.)
- Partnering with reporting teams to document standard reporting requirements needing product data attributes
- Setting policies and standards for product data auditing between systems. Bring to resolution discrepancies found by working with key partners
- Serving as a change agent driving ‘data as an asset' culture and continued progress toward Ariat becoming an effective product data-driven culture
- Participating in change management activities required to fix data quality and process issues
- Managing the Data Governance Office efforts. Proactively identify data gaps, data discrepancies, misalignments and propose solution(s) to fix the issues
- Identifying key data attributes that need to be monitored and establish framework for efficient governance
- Executing processes for monitoring, measuring, and reporting compliance with acceptable levels of data quality (completeness, validity, consistency, timeliness, and accuracy)
About You
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3-4 years’ work experience in a combination of data governance, data quality, and stewardship
- 2+ years of experience leading and managing a data team
- Developed and implemented data standards, policies, practices, and procedures that lead to improvements in data quality and integrity
- Experience managing and maintaining master data
- Ability to influence / change management
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Knowledge of industry-leading data quality and data protection management practices
- Results oriented, high energy, inspirational and self-motivated leader
- Experience with any Data Governance tools
- Excellent computer knowledge: Centric PLM, Outlook, Microsoft Excel/ Word/Visio, Tableau

The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $95,000 per year.
The salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data for geographic locations. Ariat in good faith believes that this posted compensation range is accurate for this role at this location at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
