Procurement Analyst Job at SSAB

POSITION PURPOSE
The Procurement Analyst role is responsible for compiling and analyzing spend and supplier information in support of the department. Responsible for administering various Procurement systems such as supplier information management and contract administration. Prepares cost and material estimates, analyzes complex bids, and reviews contract pricing. Key to this role is the ability to extract data, understand, analyze, and determine necessary courses of action in an independent, professional, ethical and timely manner. This position is customer-focused and provides support across the division. This individual will also be relied upon to take the initiative to solve problems in ways that are creative and self-determined.
Essential Functions of Role
Analysis
Responsible and accountable for the analysis and maintenance of purchasing and quality data including but not limited to; purchase orders, quotations, invoices, source catalogs, material rejection disposal reports, tooling records, supplier data and measurements.
Prepare, create, analyze reports and statistics as required/directed by Manager (such as cost analysis, quantitative analysis, supplier performance, etc.).
Conduct market research on Key commodities used by SSAB.
Design and implement supply chains that support business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies.
Understand, track, and forecast the key cost drivers and market factors for assigned commodities.
Develop material costs forecasts or standard cost lists.
Responsible for budget targets concerning purchased materials costs.
Company Direction
Communicate company’s expectations and logistics’ demands to achieve continuous improvements in quality, lead-time and costs.
Provide effective customer-focused responses in a timely manner to internal/external stakeholders.
Assist in maintaining Policy, Process Maps, and Procedures.
Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the procurement process.
Develop procedures for coordination of supply chain management with other functional areas, such as sales, marketing, finance, production, engineering and quality assurance.
Support various systems through implementation, process development, and training. Act as Procurement's system administrator managing login's, providing initial user assistance, and facilitating solutions with system providers.
Supplier Performance
Conduct continual reviews of supplier performance and corrective activity plans by means of quantifiable evaluations, statistics, meetings, presentations, and other relevant communication.
Analyze information about supplier performance and procurement program success.
Develop and implement procedures or systems to evaluate and select suppliers.
Manage suppliers, cost, quality, and delivery performance.
Ensure accuracy, quality and timeliness of incoming and outgoing materials.
Metrics
Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors such as product cost and quality.
Buying Activity
Aligns commodities to ensure that are assigned, negotiate prices and terms with suppliers and suppliers.
Locate, analyze, and develop a consolidated supplier base to meet current and future needs.
Create and maintain mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers. As needed perform supplier performance reviews and inspections.
Develop and maintain detailed files on sourcing projects, tracking cost savings.
Negotiate and manage all contracts and agreements for assigned commodities.
Implement appropriate sourcing strategies to control the company’s purchased material costs and to assure an adequate source of supply.
Identify and report supply chain related problems in day-to-day activities in an effort to increase overall efficiency and productivity.
Take the lead in troubleshooting repetitive concerns. Communicate issues and opportunities with suppliers and within the organization. Monitor supplier performance; recommend and drive improvements.

Competencies and Experience
Required
- Negotiation Skills - Ability to reach outcomes that gain the support and acceptance of all parties.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of windows-based systems including word-processing, spreadsheets and presentations
- Demonstrated ability to work productively and effectively in a team environment.
- Good organizational and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, positive attitude, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- 5-7 years' experience is desirable, however, recent graduates will be considered
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in Business, Purchasing/Supply Management, Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Logistics or related field.
