Kemin Industries is seeking a Process Development Engineer. This person will be part of the process development team working on technology transfer, process development and process innovation. The position will be responsible to support R&D and operations with engineering expertise and analysis to achieve project goals. He/she will lead continual process improvement, technology transfer, new process development and innovation and share best practices for engineering excellence across the organization.
This position will be located at our worldwide headquarters in Des Moines, IA.
Candidates must be local or open to relocation.

Responsibilities:
- Plan, execute, and analyze lab scale/pilot scale experiments to evaluate new process technologies.
- Experience with scale up/scale down, and tech transfer to manufacturing.
- Maintaining digital records of all activities using in-house systems and shared digital document repositories.
- Use of statistics to design experiments and analyze data
- Generate technical reports to summarize results of evaluations
- Ensure safe laboratory operations and good documentation practices
- Provide subject matter expertise to project teams and functions by offering technical guidance and scientific insight for new process development and process improvements.
- Put together technology transfer package for internal/external project needs.
- Develop BFDs, PFDs, batch cycle times, mass and energy balances and equipment/instrument datasheets and specifications for generating high level project cost estimate and conceptual engineering design.
- Work with cross-functional teams at different regions of the world.
- Communicate with equipment vendors for technology selection. Collaborate with R&D teams on technology transfer, process scale up and provide expertise, guidance, and recommendations as needed.
- Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry with process engineering experience.
- 0+ years of process design experience (EPC, food/feed/life science industry preferred).
- Flexible to work on multiple projects at one time.
- Comfortable in matrix organization.
- Ability to work productively in a fast paced, high-pressure environment.
- Positive, professional attitude with a passion for science
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong coordination skills with ability to understand process/equipment needs and potential issues.
- Ability to travel in US and international.
