POSITION SUMMARY

As an MRI Technologist at Georgia Bone and Joint Surgeons, this position produces detailed images for medical diagnosis by performing a variety of magnetic resonance imaging procedures. The employee must work collaboratively with all staff and physicians in support of direct patient services, exhibiting flexibility and a “can-do” attitude. The position must exemplify the core values and mission of our organization while exercising the utmost discretion, diplomacy and tact in patient and staff interactions.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Perform MRI according to protocols.

· Maintain proper quality control procedures.

· Must have knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to MRI exams and equipment.

· Must be able to work extended hours when necessary.

· Instruct and prepare patient for MRI exams (including screening forms).

· Start IV to administer contrast when ordered.

· Cleans and disinfects MRI room, along with following infection control guidelines.

· Print surgical films as requested by physicians and staff.

• Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols.
• Maintain a neat work area.
• Maintain professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.
• Adhere to employer work practices as described in Georgia Bone & Joint Surgeons Employee Handbook.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and management.
• Effectively cope with typical job stress.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education:

· Completion of a two-year approved school of radiologic technology.

· Valid state radiology registration as required by state law.

· Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology

· Current CPR/BLS Certification

· MR Certification preferred.

Experience:

• Experience in computer usage.

Knowledge/Skills:

• Medical Terminology/Anatomy.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
• Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS

· Sitting/Standing: Extended periods of sitting and/or standing in an open office environment

· Handling:Normal office activity including, keyboarding, interacting with others, participating in meetings, extended periods of sitting and/or standing in an open office environment, use of headset or telephone for extended periods of time.

· Repetitive motion: Frequent and regular use of the wrists, hands, and fingers to make small movements such as typing or picking up small objects. Normal fine and gross motor control of fingers and hands.

· Exposure to weather, uneven walking surfaces and office setting

· Frequently move/lift between 50-100 pounds, depending on assignment requirements.

• Requires frequent bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling throughout regular work shift.
• Requires exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
• Consistent attendance is required to assure that the facilities’ needs, and patient needs are met.
