Job Purpose

Oversees all technical aspects of the machines in the Valve Guide pressing department and is charged to constantly improve part quality, increase equipment efficiency, and reduce overall cost.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Continually strive to improve safety of associates by active participation on safety and 5S audits.
• Train other set-up capable individuals on various parts and compacting presses.
• Set-up multiple parts in various compacting presses.
• Advise and assist maintenance department in troubling shooting, repair, and maintaining of all pressing area related equipment; provide training to maintenance technicians as needed.
• Work with PE in developing new parts and develop standards and programs for all parts.
• Work with toolroom in developing countermeasures for tool breakages.
• Work with Production and QA in determining root causes and countermeasures for external rejections and internal recurring discard as needed; Supply technical support to customers on an as needed basis.
• Work with Superintendent to identify and implement VEC projects.
• Standardize operations, components, tooling, machine settings.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to equipment downtime.
• Develop and implement systems/projects to improve cycle time.
• Collaborate with maintenance and manufacturing development to help reduce unexpected equipment downtime.
• Assist in writing work instructions, PM’s and the training involved with them.
• Serve as back-up for group leaders and operators on an as needed basis.

Required Education and Experience

• High School Diploma.
• Prior manufacturing experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Knowledge of compacting presses and sintering furnaces functions.
• Associates degree in engineering or related field.
• Experience with ABB robots.
• Experience with Sintering Furnaces.
• Experience with Eddy Current equipment.

Competencies

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong computer (Microsoft Office and Excel) skills.
• Ability to work in a face-paced environment with little supervision.
• Excellent prioritization skills.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills.

Working Conditions

• This job operates primarily on the manufacturing floor.
• Incumbents are subject to elevated temperatures (up to 115°), loud noises, and dirty working conditions for prolonged periods of time.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs during setups and for grabbing of trays, pulling, or pushing carts, etc.
• Requires twisting, climbing stairs, pushing hoppers, lifting skids waist high.
• Climbing ladders and mezzanines.
• Requires bending, stretching, and use of hands to feel, touch, or handle objects.

• Overtime as needed

• As needed for training and other business needs.
