Job Summary and Qualifications

The Sleep Center Tech is an allied health professional who demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to his or her patients. The Sleep Center Tech is expected to follow the standards as set forth by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (“AASM”). The Sleep Center Tech supports the mission, vision, and values, goals and objectives of Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center and the HealthONE organization.


Here are some of the responsibilities you will have in this role:

    • Collect, analyze and integrate patient information in order to identify and meet the patient-specific needs (Physical/mental limitations, current emotional/physiological status regarding the testing procedure, pertinent
  • medical/social history), and to determine final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols.
    • Complete and verify documentation.
    • Explain pre-testing, testing, and post-testing procedures to the patient.
    • Score sleep/wake stages by applying professionally accepted guidelines.
    • Score clinical events (such as respiratory events, cardiac events, limb movements, arousals etc.) according to center specific protocols.
    • Generate accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data.
  • Other duties as assigned

What qualifications you will need:

  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Registration by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT). BLS required.
  • Education: High School Diploma.
  • Experience: Two years of patient care experience.
  • Special Qualifications: Demonstrates good organizational skills. Provides safe and appropriate care within the Standards of Nursing practice at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center. Demonstrates good critical thinking skills. Displays leadership and problem solving skills. Communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers. Able to articulate and demonstrate knowledge of nursing theory and practice.

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
