Plant Manager Job Description
Summary
Responsible for the safe, efficient, customer focused operation of Atlas Bolt and Screw Co., LLC manufacturing and distribution location in Ashland OH. Manages all plant operations including staffing and workforce planning. Ability to properly handle material, products, and related inventory control. Must have experience and knowledge of proper operation of manufacturing and material handling equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive safety throughout the facility. Hold all team members accountable to safety standards and goals. Accountable to follow-up and ensure all identified safety needs are addressed
- Direct and coordinate daily operations of the manufacturing plant
- Oversee all levels of staff activity and performance
- Maintain close communication with operator, supervisors, and production employees to meet quality and delivery
- Develop processes to increase productivity and enhance performance
- Support and maintain continuous lean manufacturing programs and workplace tools, including visual management, 5S, continuous improvement, and lean manufacturing education.
- Manage operations to meet critical KPI’s
- Oversee raw material and supply purchases required to meet business needs
- Drive quality culture. Implement a quality plan ensuring quality is built into every process
- Drive customer focused culture, minimizing back orders, increasing fill rates and on time deliveries of quality products
- Develop employees with the purpose of increasing production and job satisfaction by setting team and individual goals, providing feedback to team members, and providing training to achieve the company goals and objectives
- Drive the Lean efforts per company standards
- Screen, interview and manage the onboarding process of new hires
- Collect and review data to reduce inefficiencies and waste
- Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages a team of supervisors and employees. Is responsible for the overall, coordination, and execution of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred
- 5-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in managing employees in a manufacturing environment.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Computer Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Other Skills, Qualifications and Abilities
- Lean Manufacturing experience required
- Must be able to travel 10% annually
