DESCRIPTION SUMMARY Assist FSQA Department in assessing FSQA initiatives to improve products and processes related to quality, food safety and consistency. Assist Plant FSQA Manager in providing quality and food safety leadership to employees.

Participate in and lead projects to improve plant quality and food safety performance. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Advise plant on all areas of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and act as plant expert on HACCP management system. • Review and verify paperwork for regulatory and internal compliance. • Notify Plant FSQA Manager and Plant Management of any potential issues identified during paperwork review.

  • Assist operations in addressing potential quality issues associated with critical control points. • Recommend and develop training programs with regards to HACCP and regulatory requirements. • Provide necessary training at all levels of operations to ensure compliance with plant’s HACCP management system. • Work with FSQA and Plant Management to address internal and third-party audit findings.
  • Resolve non-conformance issues at plant facilities and warehouses. • Work with Plant Management to develop corrective action plans and communicates plans to FSQA and Plant Manager. • Support FSQA team with management/supervision duties, filling in for Plant FSQA Manager/Supervisor as needed. • Ensure compliance to FSQA, 5s, OSHA and HACCP support programs.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations. • Support all safety, food quality and sanitation initiatives and policies. • Follow SugarCreek safety rules and procedures. • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor’s Degree with a major in food science, or other related field. Experience: Three to five years in a quality assurance role, preferably in a food manufacturing setting. Certification or Licensure Requirements: None. ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED • Able to communicate effectively and efficiently using both verbal and written skills.

  • Able to use critical thinking to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems. • Able to work cooperatively with others. • Possess strong independent thinking, organizational skills and planning abilities. • Able to read and comprehend printed and electronic information.
  • Able to use computers proficiently, especially Microsoft Office. • Possess skills needed to clearly communicate issues to management. • Know the importance of HACCP, Food Safety and Inspection Services (FSIS) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) requirements. OTHER REQUIRMENTS No unusual physical requirements.
Physical requirements are consistent with typical HAACP Coordinator positions, including some sitting with some standing/walking required. Other physical activity like using stairs or occasionally moving items weighing up to 50 lbs may be required as needed. Some travel may be required in between plants. WORK ENVIRONMENT Some travel to other locations is required.

Some work is performed in a comfortable, indoor, office-like facility. Some work is performed in an indoor, manufacturing facility with close proximity to heavy and hazardous machinery. Safety wear is required, including hard hat, hairnet, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toe boots, coats and other necessary equipment. Very little work is performed outside of the manufacturing facility.
