POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Proven management and leadership skills.
  • Leads and facilitates the development and implementation of cost-effective programs and procedures that continuously increase overall environmental awareness.
  • Strong technical background with experience in air compliance, wastewater, and regulatory interface.
  • Works with local management team to assure compliance with all applicable plant, company, and governmental policies, procedures, regulations, and legislation.
  • Supports the Plant and Management Teams with alignment to Regional Teams.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Regulatory compliance and permitting: Manages site permitting (Title V, SWPPP, Beneficial Use, SPCC, etc.) efforts to meet regulatory requirements and maintain our license to operate
  • Leadership: Interaction with operations, management teams to ensure site compliance. Proven and demonstrated leadership abilities among teams. Provides regular communication to all levels of management regarding environmental issues and performance.
  • Air Compliance: Advanced understanding of air compliance regulations, and knowledgeable related to emissions measurement and control technologies. Development of regulatory reporting submissions and associated data analysis reviews.
  • Training and Presentation Skills: Leads and facilitates the development and implementation of environmental training and other programs and activities necessary. Ability to communicate to a group effectively and clearly.
  • Business Planning – Environmental: Participates in the development and implementation of Long-Range Plans (LRPs), Continuous Improvement Plans (CIPs), global standards, budget, and other corporate efforts. Establishes site environmental goals and objectives consistent with global and regional goals. Assists management in interpreting and applying technical regulatory requirements on production operations.
  • Environmental standards, regulatory interface, and site advocacy: Monitors proposed and existing environmental regulations and legislation to determine their impact on operations. Develops, implements, and manages compliance programs for the plant.
  • Emergency Response: Experience with spill prevention, response, remediation, and group coordination during unplanned events. Development and implementation of drills and exercises.
  • Data collection and analysis: Manages system for identifying, investigating, recording, and reporting undesired environmental events. Ensure corrective actions are taken to fulfill regulatory compliance.
  • Responsible Care: Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care® Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001® technical specification, as applicable to the site/region.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor/University degree in environmental sciences or engineering.
  • 5+ years related experience
  • Strong knowledge of complex Air Compliance Programs, Wastewater treatment, and team leadership; local and national regulations; technical practices in monitoring and measuring environmental emissions and compliance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Operating programs, and strong computer skills for analysis and reporting
  • Planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to negotiate with external stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; conversational and written fluency in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with others.
