Summary: The Production Planner is responsible for scheduling the usage of production materials to ensure optimal levels. The Planner must evaluate suppliers or quality timeliness and match according to goals. They also monitor material flow and identify any shortages or bottlenecks in usage that may arise.

Duties and Responsibilities: Included but not limited too:


  • Serve as the primary Planner for one of Haskel’s key product value streams. Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and other disciplines to ensure the continuity of production, quick resolution of issues, and the continued success of the value stream product lines.
  • Perform strategic analysis to set and maintain the overall materials requirement plan. Maintain ERP planning parameter data to drive proper replenishment signals back into the supply chain. Identify ways to optimize inventory level and improve Customer OTD.
  • Manage the end to end procurement cycle including order placement, coordination with tactical buyers at a third party service center, resolving order discrepancies, and managing quality issues and material returns with suppliers.
  • Manage the performance of a critical portion of our overall supply base. Work with suppliers to identify and close performance gaps and lead efforts to develop key suppliers through the Supplier Continuous Improvement Program. Work with suppliers to identify and achieve overall process improvements that help yield inventory reduction, lead-time improvements, and total cost reduction.
  • Collaborate closely with our Commodity Management team to help plan and execute medium and long term commodity strategies.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing methodologies to help drive continuous improvement throughout the organization. Participate in cross-functional improvement teams related to improving material flow, reducing waste, and improving overall operational efficiency.

Education

BA/BS degree with 4–7+ years experience

Qualifications

  • 2 -5+ years of experience in Manufacturing, Materials Management, Planning and Logistics
  • Strong sense of urgency to obtain results
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing & Product Quality
  • Experience in Lean Inventory Management processes
  • Intermediate analytical and project management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel reporting and data analysis tools
  • Solid skills with ERP systems (JDE and/or SAP a plus) and data mining from ERP systems
  • Good verbal and written communication is a MUST
  • Buyer experience is a plus

  • Performing periodic (at least annually) reviews of procedures, work instructions and Job Hazard and Environment Analysis (JHA)
  • Encouraging active participation of employees in quality, environmental and health and safety related issues, or harassment.
