POSITION SUMMARY:
The staff speech language pathologist is responsible for the evaluation, assessment, and treatment of a wide variety of patients, including, but not limited to patients with: neurological, cardiac, and other medical conditions in the areas of acute, subacute, rehabilitation an outpatient speech language pathology. The staff speech language pathologist is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of patients with suspected speech, language, cognitive, communicative, and swallowing impairments.
The staff speech language pathologist must evaluate and treat patients in accordance with the rules and regulations of this facility, the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA), and the State of Nevada, Board of Professional Regulations.
The staff speech language pathologist must demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and assess and interpret data reflective of the patients' medical status and age specific needs, in order to provide the appropriate care, as described in the department's policies and procedures.
The staff speech language pathologist will provide goal directed treatment program planning, implementation and modification, as well as related documentation and communication for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations, without regard to race, color, sex, religion, or national origin.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
One to two years' experience in hospital or rehab setting preferred. CFYs cannot be considered at this time. Training or practicum areas of aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, cognitive deficits, dysphagia, neurological disorders, cleft palate and voice disorders is required
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
MS or MA in Speech Pathology
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:
State of Nevada Board of Examination for Audiology and Speech Pathology
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from American Language Speech & Hearing Association
