Essential Functions

Responsible for the payroll for all US and Canada Operating Business Units including garnishments, benefits, and taxes.
Responsible for managing all aspects of the payroll process in an accurate, compliant, and timely manner.
Ensure compliance with US federal tax laws and all local and state tax regulations in those states where we have employees.
Critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits, and tax procedures to recommend and implement changes leading to best practice operations.
Audit W-4s, payroll balance sheets, YTD earnings, etc.
Serve as primary contact with UKG.
Verification of payroll audit reports.
Provide multi-state payroll tax reports, wage garnishments and general ledger support.
Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions etc.).
Create and provide periodic and special reports to corporate management employees using BI Reporting and other reporting tools.
Function as System Administrator and provide technical support to system users for UltiPro.
Oversee the administration of time and attendance systems and provide technical support to users as required.
Act as liaison to and communicate with HR and Accounting departments as necessary.
Develop, implement, and administer payroll policies and procedures.
Supervise and direct the Payroll Administrator.
Critically review and analyze current payroll and tax procedures to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations.
Participate and/or Lead projects as needed, i.e., General Ledger interface, Time and Attendance streamlining, Time Accrual set up
Administering process for unclaimed payments per the state escheat laws.
Ensure all bonus and commission expenses are approved by Director, HR Operations, CHRO, CFO and/or CEP prior to processing, as appropriate.
Provide information to UKG to set up local tax jurisdictions.
Processing of disability salary continuance and severance pay.
Responsible for quarter-end and year-end special calculations, including relocation gross up and leased vehicle fringes.
Research and resolve all payroll tax inquiries.
Responsible for Wisely card process including funding manual payments.
Managing the administration of temporary staffing in time and attendance module for tracking hours.
Manage, coach and mentor payroll team.
Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

Must possess excellent working knowledge of garnishment, US federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
Prefer strong knowledge of UKG system and BI Reporting. Experience with time and attendance systems required.
Must possess a high degree of confidentiality, honesty, and integrity.
Must have the ability to function with limited supervision.
Demonstrated experience managing a third-party payroll vendor relationship.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills resulting in effective communication with employees, management, and outside entities.
Require strong computer proficiency with spreadsheets and database structures.
Must be a logical self-starter with excellent project management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Certified Payroll Professional certification highly preferred.
