DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Northeastern State University Center for Tribal Studies invites applications for a part time Clinical Coordinator/Therapist (contracted work). This position provides mental health counseling, screenings and crisis response for university students.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide direct services in the form of short-term individual counseling related to students/personal and educational concerns addressing issues relating to stress, coping skills and academic progress.
Provide crisis interventions for critical incidents or individual clinical emergencies, i.e, provide short-term crisis therapy, assist in managing individuals, assess status for other service providers, campus police, etc.
Provide students with plans and methods of attacking the complexities of higher education.
Make referrals to internal and external resources as appropriate.
Participate in bi-weekly clinical staff meetings with HawkReach counseling team.
Contract work may also include training to faculty and staff on mental health issues and /or presentations regarding student mental health and other related issues.
Preform related duties as needed.
EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a masters degree in counseling and guidance, psychology or other related field. Licensed professional Counselor preferred. Relevant training and experience as a generalist in short-term individual counseling. Ability to work with students from diverse racial, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, particularly with Native Americans. Excellent counseling and advising skills specific to working with emerging adult and non-traditional aged college student issues (i.e. substance abuse, identity development, eating disorders, relationship issues, test anxiety, etc.) Prior college/university counseling experience preferred.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Masters degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or a related field. LPC preferred. Proof of insurance will also be required if selected.
COMPENSATION
Individual who is selected will be contracted for the current semester to work up to 29 hours per week at the rate of $50/hour.
