Under the direction and supervision of the Center Manager and Homecare Coordinator, takes vital signs of participants, escorts participants to exam rooms, prepares participants to be seen in the clinic, and assists physicians and nurses in the provision of examinations and treatment. Ensures exam rooms are prepared for nursing and the physician and stocked with appropriate supplies. Obtains information from participants as directed by the Clinic RN or physician. Participates in clinic meetings and overall planning related to the clinic. Accepts other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and within the CNA scope of practice.
Responsibilities:
- Consult each day with the Clinical and Medical staff on managing the participant flow for the day. Assist in prioritizing the scheduling of participants.
- Schedule necessary appointments for participants when requested by the supervisor for the clinic, specialists, and outside medical appointments.
- Document in the medical record as appropriate to the scope of practice.
- Perform any necessary filing or clerical duties necessary to complete charting requirements.
- Effectively communicates in clinic meetings.
- Takes vital signs of participants, escorts participants to exam rooms, and prepares participants to be seen in the clinic.
- Report abnormal findings and changes to the Clinic Supervisor or designee.
- Assist participants in disrobing, positions participant in bed, chair, or exam table, and ensures they are ready to see nurses and physicians as appropriate.
- Perform collection of specimens within the scope of practice, as requested by clinical staff.
- Assist the physician and nurses with minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Assists in any medical procedures as requested by staff with training and within the scope of practice.
- Maintain exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials and stocks as needed. Prepares a list of medical supplies to be ordered.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness of exam rooms.
- Prepare equipment and aids physician and nurses during treatment, examination, and testing of participants.
- Responsible for ensuring all lab specimens are labeled and ready for the courier to pick up in a timely manner.
- Maintain inventory of clinic supplies and puts needed supplies on the re-order list. Ensures that necessary supplies are always available.
- Act only within the scope of his or her authority to practice.
- Follow all PACE Place Policies and Procedures and OSHA safety guidelines.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all company procedures, results, and information about participants, clients, or families.
- Handle potentially infectious specimens with appropriate biohazard precautions and practice standard precautions.
- Maintain safe working environment. Follows Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Participate in continuing education classes and any required staff and training meetings. Maintain professional affiliations and any required certifications.
- Participate in and support Quality Improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as required or requested within the scope of practice.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Education/Training/Certifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current CNA certification in Florida.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year working with the frail or elderly population.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledge of principles, practices, standards, and techniques of a CNA.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions for a safe work environment.
- Knowledge of medical equipment use and maintenance.
- Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, co-workers, medical staff, and the public.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Basic computer literacy.
- First Aid and CPR certification are important but not mandatory.
