Job Title: Outreach Coordinator
Reports To: Executive Director
Classification: Non-Exempt paid Hourly
Individual Contributor Role
Summary: As the Outreach Coordinator your responsibilities include planning, facilitating, and/or coordinating activities designed to create or maintain a favorable public image, raise issue awareness within the community and amongst other community-based organizations, solicit and maintain funds for special projects, positively impact the lives of our clients, and increase program attendance for the organization.
The Outreach Coordinator's responsibilities include data collection and analysis, representing our organization at trade fairs, organizing media events, fundraising, and coordinating volunteer activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Handling public relations, such as developing strategic relationships, attending tradeshows, and conducting informational presentations at churches, universities, clubs, and civic groups.
- Developing press releases, brochures, and other marketing materials and keeping them updated as needed.
- Organizing outreach events, including sales, marketing, and planning, to promote the services of the organization and receive donations.
- Collecting, analyzing, and reporting data on local demographics and programs, developing results, and presenting the conclusions to the relevant departments.
- Advertising for, screening, and recruiting volunteers, providing them with training and support, tracking their performance, and keeping records of their activities.
- Creating activities to supplement and support staff needs.
- Verifying the volunteers' availability, receiving their feedback, recognizing their efforts, and answering their questions.
- Performing administrative duties, such as overseeing mailings, organizing travel, monitoring budget information, and reporting on financial issues.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required, with a minimum of five years' experience in non-profits, community engagement, and, or public outreach fields.
- A bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, social services, or experience in related field with two to three years of experience.
- Principles and practices of effective organization, program development and implementation.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Must be comfortable with technology and have the ability to adopt the use of new software and databases.
- Ability to work under general supervision, independently and adhere to deadlines.
- Some evenings and weekends may be required.
- Bilingual (English/ Spanish) is a plus.
- Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan fingerprinting) prior to beginning employment.
- CPR/First Aid Certification is a plus, but not required.

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations: Must maintain a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and carry state required auto insurance. CPR/First Aid Certification is a plus, but not required.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. Capability to communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly in one-on-one and small group situations with colleagues, students, parents, and community members of the organization.
Math Ability:
Capability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Capacity to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. English usage, grammar, spelling and punctuation. Appropriate writing techniques for writing reports and correspondence
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the basic computer literacy. Experience with general office equipment and software such as Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel.
Work Environment:
Your work environment varies from inside and outside. Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. This position may require you to come in early, work late, weekend work, or work overtime from time to time, depending on various factors, such as workloads, staffing needs, and special projects. Maintain emotional control under stress. Ability to handle emergency situations using good judgment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
