Full Job Description
This position supports overall customer service and logistics initiatives of the warehouse as related to daily operations. A successful candidate will be given a competitive rate with ample room for learning and growth within the company in addition to time off and benefits.

Essential Duties
80% Customer Service / Order Entry
20% Warehouse Operations Support

Here is what your first 12 months at Southern will look like:

  • From the first day:
  • You are engaged, learn quickly, pay attention to the details, and have a high level of urgency working at a consistently fast pace.
  • You are able to work Monday-Friday 8am - 5pm with additional available overtime throughout the rest of the week.
  • Within the first two weeks:
  • You will learn how to efficiently use our order entry and warehouse management system to enter and manage orders.
  • You will learn how to efficiently use our phone system to answer and transfer calls as necessary.
  • You will learn to prep, pack, and seal kit packages ready for distribution.
  • You will lift, carry, push and pull packages on a continuous and repetitive basis for up to 4 hours at a time.
  • If successful within the first 30 days:
  • You will support the customer service team by entering new orders, received by fax, email, phone call, or in person.
  • You will support the customer service team by assisting with all begin of day and end of day procedures.
  • You will support the customer service team by assisting customers with will call orders including the basic packaging and billing of the orders as well as receiving payment from the customer in the form of cash, check, and/or credit card.
  • If successful within the first 60 days:
  • You will support the customer service team by efficiently and accurately billing the day’s orders
  • If successful within the first 6 months:
  • You will support the inventory control team by efficiently and accurately recording items received in our inventory control system
  • You will support the inventory control team by efficiently and accurately recording inventory / overstock moves and adjustments
  • If successful within the first year:
  • You will support the admin team by efficiently and accurately applying payments made to customers’ account
  • You will support the admin team by efficiently and accurately reconciling the previous day’s willcall cash drawer.

Beyond the first year there are many advancement opportunities within the company including becoming part of the purchasing, admin, and/or warehouse teams.

Skills, Attributes, and Experience

  • Ability to understand and follow instruction regarding work duties and safety methods (required)
  • Ability to discern numbers (add, subtract, multiply and divide 2 digit numbers) and discern information to sort packages correctly (required)
  • Ability to read and understand documents and follow written instructions. (required)
  • Ability to use / learn basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, and unloading devices (required)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced team (required)
  • Ability to multitask with phones, computers, and people simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy and customer service. (required)
  • 1-2+ years of relevant customer service experience (required)
  • 30+ words per minute typing (required)
  • General experience with computer systems (required)
  • 1-2+ of experience using phone systems (required)

Additional Job Elements
Must be able to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours · Must be able to work in an environment where the noise level varies and can be loud· Must be able to work in an environment where the temperature may vary between 60 and 90 degrees, and will occasionally exceed 90 degrees· Must be able to continuously climb and descend stairs safely (applies to sites with stairs). Must be able to lift, move, push or pull up to 50 lbs, and occasionally 80 lbs with assistance.

Pay:

  • Base rate: $16.5+/hr DOE
  • Performance based incentives $3.5-$7+/hr

The base rate for this entry level position is $16.5/hr.

The least you should make in performance based incentives is $3.5/hr (if you make less than an additional $3.5/hr then you are not the type of worker that will be successful here anyway). Most of our workers make in the $4-$5/hr range in incentives and our top performers can make upwards of $7+hr in incentives.

Reviews and raises are given frequently on a person-to-person basis and are almost exclusively based on performance.
