OPTICIAN ASSISTANT Job at COMMUNITY HEALTH OF SOUTH DADE, INC
POSITION PURPOSE: Provide supportive services to patients under the supervision of the Optometrist. The Optometry Assistant will assist with eye examinations, perform clerical duties, and maintain and clean the examination equipment and assist the optometrists in Coordinating the workflow and schedule in the Vision Department.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience: High School diploma or GED equivalent. 1 year experience working in a healthcare setting.
Licensure / Certification: Must maintain current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
Skills/ Ability: Knowledge of medical t terminology . Good communication skills and interpersonal relationships. Must type a minimum of 20 - 30 WPM. Bi lingual skills desired.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (THIS IS A NON-EXEMPT POSITION):

Consistently gives accurate attention to all details.
Communicates effectively and expresses ideas and procedures clearly; actively listens and always follows appropriate channel of communications.
Consistently greets patients and treats patients with respect.
Demonstrates ability to get along with anyone who seeks services and effectively communicate procedures and information to customers/patients
Anticipates providers' needs when preparing patients for services.
Cleans area and prepares for next day patient care to reduce delays.
Always cross checks patients' paperwork to ensure accuracy of medical records.
Knowledgeable of Electronic Health Record and able to schedule appointments for patients.
Trained in patient registration in the EHR and able to provide support to Patient Financial Service staff with front desk processes as needed for Vision.
Coordinates the providers workflow and schedule and reviews the provider's patient schedules.
Addresses Infection Control Protocols and follows Policies and Procedures pertaining to Infection Control.
Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner.
Prioritizes tasks assigned, requests help as needed and maintains productivity.
Keep providers' room stocked with necessary supplies to prevent delays in patient care.
Provides complete, accurate, and timely documentation in patient's EHR within the same day of service.
Possesses general knowledge of the CHI system, procedures, location of all departments, treatment areas and other patient services.
Adheres to Department Policies and Procedures in performing duties and assignments.
Demonstrates the ability to work with a diverse population.
- Seeks guidance and direction as necessary for the successful completion of job duties.
- Consistently combines ethical judgment with technical skill within the Policies and legal guidelines of CHI.
- Follows written and verbal instruction as directed thoroughly and consistently.
- Actively participates as a team member, adding to the morale of the unit.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
