STATE PROFILE SUMMARY: Under supervision, provides entry level professional support in one or more of the following areas: OMAT, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental and traffic.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under general supervision at a full working level, utilizes Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies such as ArcGIS 10.x Software Suite to create, edit, analyze, and manage spatial data (raster or vector).
  • Creates, maintains, and updates cartographic products. Assists with training of office staff in Geographic Information Systems.
  • Manages projects to successful completion and provides an exceptional level of customer service.
  • Communicates oral and written ideas effectively.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Qualifications


STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university
  • OR Associate's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Six months of related experience
  • OR One year of experience required at the lower level Transportation Tech 4 (TRT053) or position equivalent

AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Basic level proficiency with ArcGIS applications.
  • Experience in editing, creating, and updating geometry, symbology, and attributes of spatial and tabular data in GIS or other applications
  • Knowledge of relational database principles and versioned SDE database editing
  • Knowledge of Linear Referencing principles (Dynamic Segmentation, Route Features, Event Tables)
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office suite, specifically Access and Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to manipulate and query geospatial and relational data by means of SQL statements, table joins, and table relates
  • Demonstrated ability to produce presentation-quality cartographic maps
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and analyze problems and develop possible solutions
  • Ability to adapt to and effectively utilize new technologies/procedures
  • Ability to effectively organize work, manage own time, and work efficiently with co-workers to achieve goals
  • Committed to providing high-quality customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to write and prepare technical reports, summary of analyses & business correspondence
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical journals/manuals, aerial photographs, program documentation, maps, graphs, etc.

AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional level work experience in an area of assignment (e.g. transportation, social service delivery programs) with technical experience collecting, organizing and analyzing numerical data.
  • Experience generating reports and presenting the results of statistical analyses where such experience is a regular and significant aspect of the job.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new procedures/applications where established methods are inapplicable
  • Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems by choosing the appropriate mathematical/statistical technique

Good Employment Standing:

In accordance with the Interview and Selection Process (ISP), an applicant must have no active disciplinary actions to be in good employment standing. Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date); Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of conclusion). In addition, an employee must have an overall ePerformance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation. Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors. Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee’s favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
