Hours: M-F 8:30A-5:00P

In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Occupational Health Technician I is responsible for providing a full service of patient registration and other basic patient care responsibilities in Occupational Health Partners. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.

Job Requirements:
  • High School degree or GED
  • Medical experience or education required
  • Obtain certifications within one year: urine drug screens, breath alcohol testing, audio screenings, pulmonary function testing
  • Coursework in medical terminology, phlebotomy or other healthcare setting experience preferred
  • BLS certification required
  • Ability to get along well with a variety of personalities and individuals, to influence others to perform their jobs effectively and to be responsible for making decisions, and to find solutions for or to deal proactively with work-related problems
Job Functions:
1. Provides general information and direction acting in a timely manner.
2. Registers patients and reviews documentation provided by patient.
3. Maintains inventory of supplies and education material.
4. Ensures that the department is neat, orderly and in safe condition.
5. Maintains equipment and instruments in specific circumstances.
6. Maintains and documents in patient records.
7. Prepares patient for physical exam, i.e. removal of necessary clothing according to exam, review questionnaires to gather details for the medical provider, clarifying any other instructions for the patient.
8. Assists with admission and discharge of patients including, but not limited to, measuring patient’s height, weight, vital signs, etc.
9. Prepares patients for and obtain electrocardiograms according to established procedures.
10. Performs vision screenings.
11. Performs respirator fit testing.
12. Provide appropriate health education to patients as directed by medical provider.
13. Promotes a continuous quality improvement effort to enhance services provided to patients and their families while observing health and safety requirements.
14. Cooperates with the applicable emergency treating provider to ensure the plans of care and rehabilitation for the injured employee to return to work are completed.
15. Provides assistance to other departmental personnel.
16. Maintains compliance in RQI.
17. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Compensation Details: Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. Minimum hiring rate for this position is listed below.
