GENERAL FUNCTION
Oakley’s Data Scientist (DS) is a highly motivated and results-oriented analytical expert who plays a critical role in developing the Company’s data storage infrastructure. The DS creates automated workflows, develops algorithms for complex problem-solving, and makes key predictions that offer important insight to the business.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Researches and evaluates new technologies on data visualization, machine learning, modeling in collaboration with experts
  • Develops and implements databases, data collection systems, data analytics with the automation digitalization team that optimize efficiency and quality of the results
  • Develops custom models, algorithms, and interactive visualizations to deliver Supply Chain insights with an innovation approach
  • Develops A/B testing frameworks with machine learning (ML) techniques
  • Completes experiments, tests hypothesis, performs data mining and builds models to solve highly complex business problems; applies advanced statistical and predictive modeling techniques to build, maintain, and improve on decision support systems
  • Assesses and advises on ML opportunities of new product feature work
  • Identifies applications/processes that could benefit from AI/ML and implement those technologies
  • Uses data to constantly challenge and reshape our current understanding of business behavior and performance
  • Identifies existing models needing to be recalibrated or retrained
  • Leverages expertise to proactively recommend key technical solutions to complex problems

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physical sciences, Statistics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics and Statistics
  • 3+ years of experience, in a computational science discipline with an emphasis on Machine Learning or Data Mining
  • Expert in Data Science (data mining, Machine Learning, PLS, PCA…)
  • Proficient with one or more programming languages (SQL, Java, C++, Python, R)
  • Proficienct knowledge in Data Analytics (DOE, Statistics, Math, probability, test plans, algorithms..) and robust process improvement approaches (SPC, taguchi, multifactorial analysis
  • Creative on technology architecture
  • Experience applying data science methods to real-world data problems
  • Experience utilizing visualization tools to take advantage of the growing volume of available information
  • Ability to work within and lead cross-functional team environments (local and global)
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), organizational, critical thinking, complex problem solving and analytical skills
  • High intellectual curiosity to learn and understand business needs
