Title: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA)
HOURS:
- MTF : 3pm-1130pm
- Saturdays:2pm-10pm
- Rotating Sundays: 7am-330pm.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements: 1 year minimum experience in Substance Abuse/ Behavioral Health and provide current California Medical Assistant license (or higher or equivalent license), current CPR/First Aid certification, must have current TB or X-Ray clearance.
Reports to: Program Director
Basic Functions: Overseeing of technician with Medical Assistant performed duties specifically centered around medication protocol and administrative tasks are complete. Interactions with clients’ medication concerns as a liaison between them and the doctor, ensures staff and clients’ program compliance of medication rules and regulations, exercises good role modeling, and demonstrates proper code of ethics and protocol of documentation.
Job Competencies: Introductory-level clinical knowledge of inpatient treatment, proficient in computer programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook email application), consistent record keeping, average customer service skills, good interpersonal skills with clients and co-workers, basic knowledge of UDS, able to utilize and navigate online portals. Establish a good rapport with clients. Screen for danger to self or others, demonstrate adherence to accepted ethical and behavioral standards of conduct, and participate in continuing professional development.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts orientation to new Medical Assistant staff
- Monitors client’s charts
- Ensures client’s medications are being taken as ordered by the doctor
- Maintains a regular medication count to check staff
- Oversees all medical appointments with outside providers
- Ensures all medications are ordered in a timely fashion
- Auditing physical charts and the MAR in KIPU
- Weekly medication counts and orders
- Handling pharmacy payments with current and past clients
- Training new nurses as well as re-training with current staff members on medication protocol and administration
- Communicating with the doctors and the pharmacy on any changes with clients
- Coordinates pickups and drop offs of medication from approved pharmacies
- Observes and monitors clients’ behavior and intervenes based on schedule, individual client’s treatment plan and facility needs
- Coordinates milieu treatment with counseling staff (via client record, staff communication, and counseling/staff meetings)
- Writes in staff shift log (including check-in and check-out as well as a summary of the shift events)
- Supervises self-administration of client medications as well as observing staff’s abilities in this area
- Provides 1:1 supervision of at-risk clients (ATA risk, suicidal ideation, etc.) per directive from Supervisor
- Follows emergency procedures exactly (including paging protocol, etc.)
- Other duties assigned by Supervisor
