Full Time. Working Hours: Days, Evenings, Nights shifts available. 7.5 hour shift.

Per Diem. Working Hours: Days Shift. 7.5 hour shift.

Weekend and Holiday rotations are required.

SUMMARY: Performs the functions of a nursing assistant in carrying out assignments given by the Nursing and Medical team. Accountable for patient care performed while on duty. Responsible for following all procedures, policies and standards. Does related work as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists the registered nurse or licensed practical nurse to provide care supportive to or restorative of life and well-being.

Contributes to improvement of patient health:

1) Receives assignment and establishes activities for the shift.

2) Assumes responsibility for activities assigned.

3) Communicates observations to the RN, LPN, and Medical Provider.

4) Provides support to patient and family and assists patients with activities of daily living.

5) Participates where possible in care plan development and implementation.

6) Responds to emergencies with actions appropriate to position.

Treats patients, visitors and associates with respect; Conforms to dress code; Comes to work as scheduled and clocks in and out appropriately per Human Resources Time and Attendance Policy; Participates in quality improvement activities.

Assists in maintenance of a safe environment by responding to call bells and safety alarms quickly. Keeps patient rooms neat and orderly; Performs unit related activities assigned. Example: stocking supplies, cleaning, organizing.

Follows established infection control policies; Practices Universal Precautions; Promotes safety standards.

Demonstrates a commitment to the unit and Nursing Department; Assists in orientation of new nursing assistants; Attends and participates in staff meetings, reads meeting minutes and signs understanding of such; Attends staff development programs and/or completes self-learning programs.

Completes annual mandatory in-service update; Completes yearly health update; Reports unusual incidents.

Responsible for carrying out all duties in an ethical and honest manner and complying with all departmental procedures, work instructions, and legal requirements

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) or its equivalent combination of education and experience; Genuine interest in working with people and specifically people in need of physical care. Willingness to work under supervision and as part of a team.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations. Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop; talk and hear. The associate must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. The Associate will satisfactorily pass the Post Offer Assessment exam by Rehabilitation Services.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is typical of a health care facility with moderate noise.
