Pomeroy is assisting our Columbia TN client identify a Network Engineer. The ideal candidate will work onsite. The Network Engineer will design, manage, and configure the company networks to ensure high levels of availability and security of the company’s IT applications. Individuals in this role are expected to create and update system documentation, participate in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures, ensure network provisioning and maintenance is consistent with company goals, best practices, and regulatory requirements, proactively research and introduce new technology and best practices and provide support to junior team members.

DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all network hardware and software.
  • Manage communications and connection solutions, including workstation connectivity, local area networks, company web site, intranet, and Internet applications.
  • Coordinate with system engineers, business application owners, desktop support and database administrations to implement company networks that utilize industry best practices to meet corporate objectives.
  • Perform and test routine backups and restores of network configurations.
  • Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software issues on network equipment.
  • Support application development teams throughout project lifecycles.
  • Monitor and analyze servers, application, and network device performance.
  • Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform network enhancements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases.
  • Create required reports in response to business user needs.
  • Participate in negotiations with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure products and services.
  • Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration.
  • Serve as an escalation point for triaging and resolving technical issues.
  • Provide guidance to junior members of the team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience
  • Certifications in Cisco equipment highly desired
  • Technical knowledge of network operating systems
  • Technical knowledge of network protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP and QOS.
  • Experience with Cisco, Meraki and Palo Alto hardware
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
  • Technical knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, security related technologies in an enterprise environment
  • Knowledge of firewalls and security best practices
  • Technical knowledge of VPN configuration
  • Working knowledge with Cloud technologies. (AWS, Azure)
  • Technical knowledge of routing and switching technologies
  • Knowledge of scripting languages.

  • Columbia, TN: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
