If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

What Your Job Will Be Like

Ready to join a dynamic team that solves challenging technical problems for national security? Are you passionate about cutting edge research and developing technologies to bridge the gap between ideas and reality? Do you have a passion for Navigation, Guidance, Controls, or Signal Processing? If so, we invite you to explore this opportunity to join our impactful team!

Center 5300 focuses on Navigation, Guidance, and Controls and electronic technologies for a variety of sponsors. This includes the development and fielding of high-performance Navigation, Guidance, and Control systems to support various Nuclear Weapon (NW), National Security Programs (NSP), homeland security, Intelligence Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, and interagency programs and R&D initiatives. The center further specializes on enhancing Navigation, Guidance and Control technologies through contested or denied environments, including navigation integrity and situational awareness, inertial measurement unit (IMU) calibration and specialization, advanced sensor fusion, and alternative navigation (altnav) sensors. These include, but are not limited to, terrain correlating Synthetic Aperture Radars (SAR), star trackers, and signal-of-opportunity navigation for national security applications.

Organization 5300 has varied work opportunities and is actively seeking electrical/computer/controls engineers with experience or education in one or more of the following fields (successful applicants will be mentored by experienced engineers to further expertise in):

  • Navigation, Guidance and Control Engineering
  • Software Development in C++, Matlab, and Python, including object-oriented programming, version control (Gitlab), and test-driven development
  • Perform software and algorithm development for both real-time systems and modeling & simulation efforts in NG&C
  • State Estimation for both integrity and accuracy – statistical anomaly detection and traditional sensor fusion (e.g., Kalman Filtering)
  • Working with inertial sensors and their use in inertial navigation systems (accelerometers, gyros, control electronics, etc.)
  • Designing, implementing, and testing inertial systems for navigation, guidance, pointing and control.
  • Signal processing, with either Radar or GPS focus
  • Designing, implementing and testing fieldable hardware and/or software-in-the-loop radar capabilities. General radar signal processing: Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) algorithms, back projection, matched filter methods, image formation algorithms, autofocusing algorithms

Applicants on this requisition may be interviewed by multiple organizations at Sandia National Laboratories.
