Basic Job Purpose/Function

Project Coordinator - Natural Resources - Goldendale, WA. - Full Time, Exempt. Grade 70, Step 1-3, $31.28- $33.19 Hr, DOQ, First Review June 2, 2023. Open until Filled.

The responsibilities of this position are two fold. The first involves coordination of natural resource planning and plan implementation programs, which includes coordinating and providing staff support to planning and advisory committees, grant and contract administration, project management, and public information. The second involves regulatory and technical research and analysis.

Essential Job Duties

  • Attend, coordinate and provide staff support to several committees composed of representatives of diverse interests and representatives of federal, state, tribal and local governments. Committees meet at varied times to include evenings.
  • Administer grants and contracts.
  • Develop and manage natural resource programs and project budgets, schedules, and scopes of work. Primary program areas: watershed management plan implementation conducted pursuant to chapter 90.82 RCW; and coordination of salmon habitat recovery “Lead Entity” program established under chapter 77.85 RCW.
  • Manage natural resource assessments and studies.
  • Communication with elected officials and agency staff, general public, and committees.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with the private landowners and state, federal, tribal and local agencies.
  • Handle politically sensitive inquiries about the program/project or work being done.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements/Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques and related tools/equipment to accomplish the basic function of this position, including any safety and/or legal requirements. This may, but not necessarily, include specialized skills.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this job. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
    • Bachelor's or graduate degree in a relevant engineering or physical science (e.g., fish or wildlife biology, hydrology, geology, forestry, or agriculture) and four years of experience.
