Position Summary

The National Program Coordinator (NPC) serves as primary contact for SCA members during their internship. The NPC is responsible for delivering a strong experience for interns through direct support as well as support of their on-site supervisors in creating a strong internship. The NPC works cross-departmentally to develop a seamless experience from selection of candidates to completion of the internship. The NPC ensures that all compliance needs for AmeriCorps members are met. The NPC also works closely with the Education/Curriculum and Evaluation teams to assure that all materials developed for the intern experience support the mission and goals of SCA. The annual salary being offered for this role is $50,000.

Work location is flexible, with preference for an SCA hubs in Chicago, IL, or the Intermountain Region.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Advisor for interns in the field, assisting them with their current position while also supporting future professional exploration and development

  • Host live trainings, webinars, and conference calls for interns focused on content such as leadership and social skill development and working in diverse and inclusive teams

  • Conduct one-on-one check-ins with interns as needed to troubleshoot issues and mentor them through their experience

  • Connect proactively and regularly with interns and partners as a component of the relationship with SCA

  • Be a collaborative partner with the Education and Curriculum team in developing and delivering content for interns and partners

  • Work closely with the Evaluation team to review data on an ongoing and annual basis to address issues as soon as theyre identified and make decisions about the programmatic changes to implement for the coming year

  • Manage the delivery of the work objectives for each funding agreement to ensure that projects are on track to meet or exceed performance goals

  • Facilitate the collection of blog posts, photographs, and stories that represent SCAs impact in all areas of conservation across the country

  • Develop, in conjunction with the Alumni and Marketing/Communications teams, a communication plan for maintaining engagement with interns after their experience to continue to their professional and leadership development.

  • Maintain a partner internship-in-a-box toolkit that guides partners and provides them with all the materials required for setting up and managing a successful internship

  • Enroll and exit members in the AmeriCorps E-Grants system and monitor compliance with AmeriCorps regulations

  • Conduct site visits based on need and funding, completing required documentation and follow-up

  • Communicate and collaborate with other departments as needed to ensure consistency and accuracy of information

  • Monitor intern account management from time of position submission to final reporting

  • Serve as on-call Duty Officer on a rotational basis and participate in incident response as needed

  • Foster an environment that promotes teamwork between SCA members, staff, and site partners

  • Represent a positive and professional image of SCA

  • Understand and follow all policies and procedures as outlined in the SCA Employee Handbook, the Field Operation Standards, and the Emergency Response System handbook

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years Customer Service experience; Bachelors degree preferred

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain relationships

  • Collaborative skills a must

  • Strong MS Office skills and strong working knowledge of databases

  • Salesforce experience a plus

  • Ability to work well as part of a team as well as independently

  • Demonstrated experience in fast-paced environment and ability to work effectively under pressure

  • Valid drivers license and driving record that meets SCA standards

  • Must pass SCA criminal background check

  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of time to conduct site visits, attend partner functions, etc.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree with specific major in field of endeavor or relevant coursework/work experience related to the specific field preferred

  • Experience working remotely under a distance-management structure a plus

  • Workforce development, career development, internships, or young adult programming experience
