• Prepare molds for production runs (in accordance with the schedule & prioritized by due dates)
• Sets up molds on the injection molding machines
• Troubleshoots machine and mold problems, and coordinates tool repair and maintenance.
• Perform limited size inspection utilizing gages, micrometer calipers or, special fixtures.
• Perform post-molding operations such as milling the gates, drilling holes, inserting inserts, hand removal of molded components from parts, hot stamping, etc. at the molding machine and during the cycle.
• Operate a granulator, rework or inspect other molded parts and fill in on the other machines as demand rises.
• Maintain production paperwork, mold technician work orders and, present it to the shift supervisor at the end of a shift.
• Mold technicians may be asked to perform the duties of a “Production & Process Technician

• A background in computing specifications, planning the sequence of operations, measuring, making and scribing metal stock, setting up and operating machines such as vertical mills, engine lathes, drill presses, grinders, etc. to tolerances less than one thousands of an inch, is required.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
• Must have a solid work history and attendance record
• Experience as a competent Machine Operator, Material handler or, have prior experience elsewhere may be considered toward qualifying as a Production Technician.
• Familiarity with the plastic molding process and materials as well as previous experience in a similar position and basic computer literacy are preferred.

• The shop contains mobile equipment, machinery, and high voltages.
• The shop noise level is variable and may require hearing protection in some areas.
• The shop is heated when required but many areas are not air-conditioned.
