Compensation: $20.00 per hour

Who we are: * Since 1971, Hopelink has served homeless and low-income families, children, seniors and people with disabilities in the north and east King County, WA. With service centers in Redmond, Bellevue, Kirkland, Shoreline and Sno-Valley (Carnation), we are the largest nonprofit organization in the area. Hopelink programs and services focus on five key areas: food, financial assistance, housing & family development, adult education & employment and transportation/mobility. Programs are aimed at helping people achieve stability and helping them gain the skills and knowledge they need to exit poverty for good.

Summary of the role: * The Service Connection Specialist will serve as a centralized information provider and access point to services to under-served individuals through a partnership with other food banks/food pantries in the Snoqualmie Valley. The Service Connection Specialist will connect rural clients to the broad scope of human services the clients might otherwise not have knowledge of or access to through food banks alone. The work will include relationship building, referrals to other local service providers, and sharing of housing, financial, social, and/or health services information. The position will require travel to and work from partner agencies in rural King County in the Snoqualmie Valley – a mobile office in a customized van is currently being fabricated for future use.
The ideal candidate will have a passion and interest in making an impact in the local community. Members of BIPOC (black, indigenous, people of color) communities, or people who have personal experience in historically marginalized and excluded communities are especially encouraged to apply.

What you’ll be doing: *
- Drives to multiple locations in the Sno-Valley area. A customized mobile office in a Hopelink van is currently being fabricated.
- Provides information and active referrals to other regional health and human services systems.
- Utilizes our referral and client data software to capture engagements.
- Completes needs assessments with participants, as appropriate.
- Assists with or creates the conditions to facilitate remote completion and submission of any forms needed for program enrollment or eligibility determination through a secure interface or telephonically as appropriate.
- Ensures access to interpreter services and/or translated documents for non-English speaking clients.
- Collaborates with other service partners to provide information and gather knowledge and awareness of other resources to expand and enhance resource sharing with food bank participants.
- Maintains a positive working relationship with programs and departments within Hopelink and with external partner organizations.
- Answers general questions regarding services offered at Hopelink and makes internal and external referrals for services within the community.
- Maintains a friendly and welcoming environment for all guests; provides compassionate service that is trauma-informed.
- Listens for understanding and de-escalates challenging or difficult situations as they arise.
- Works closely with Center Managers to develop new partnerships and progressive strategies for reaching under-served communities and builds connections to services.
- Coordinates with the agency’s outreach committee to serve under-represented groups. Works with other Hopelink programs as needed to integrate services to our Sno-Valley community.

- Two years office and customer service experience; preferably in a social service setting or an equivalent combination of education, work experience, and/or military service.
- Experience and ability effectively working with diverse, target populations such as veterans, limited English speakers, refugees and immigrants, and lower-income individuals.
- Intermediate level proficiency in data systems and MS Office suite including Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and organizational skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and effective decision-making skills to accomplish goals and creatively problem-solve issues.
- Bi-lingual applicants are strongly encouraged to apply, especially those with Spanish or Hmong language proficiency.
- Knowledge of the social service network throughout King County, as well as immediate community area helpful.
- Willing to travel to and work in various locations on a regular basis. Mileage will be reimbursed.

- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- The noise level in the work environment may primarily be moderately quiet. Applicant must be able to tolerate loud noise for short periods regularly during travel.

Licenses, Certificates, & Other Requirements: *
- Valid Washington State driver’s license.
- Reliable personal transportation.
- Proof of current personal automobile liability insurance.
- Must pass criminal background check.
