H&H is offering an exciting opportunity for a Midwest Regional Manager to be responsible for growing the firm’s presence and leading operational efforts, business development efforts, and client relationships in the Midwest region. The region includes Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Kansas. The preferred location would be in our Chicago, IL, office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop bridge, roadway, and rail business for the firm in the Midwest Region
  • Oversight and management of all aspects of operations in the Midwest Region, including current offices in Michigan, Kansas, and Chicago. Includes financial performance, backlog, resource allocation, project performance, work product, professional development of staff, client relationships and management, sales, and other operational aspects
  • Collaborate with the firm’s CEO and CDO to develop and execute growth strategies for the Midwest Region
  • Make direct contact with leads, prospects, clients, influences, and others; coordinate activities of others who are also making contacts, presentations, interviews
  • Take primary responsibility for preparing proposals, coordinating activities with appropriate management and project management staff
  • Liaise and collaborate with Michigan and Kansas office leadership to assist with business development efforts in those markets
  • Participate in firm-wide technical and engineering management initiatives and workgroups focused on enhancing the firm’s engineering capabilities, quality, and product delivery effectiveness
  • Establish and lead the professional development and mentoring programs for Midwest engineering staff in conjunction with HQ Engineering policy and programs
  • Supervise and manage staff for the Chicago office; assist other Midwest office leaders with the management of their local staff as requested
  • Liaise with HQ Engineering for work-sharing, staff assignments, local backlog, and quality assurance

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Registered PE
  • SE is preferred but not required
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in the industry with a focus on developing business for bridge, roadway, and/or rail engineering firms
  • Relationships with rail agencies including BNSF, CN, CSX, CP, and Amtrak
  • Experience in developing proposals and client presentations
  • Excellent communication skills and management skills
