Metrology Manager Job at Pharmaceutics International Inc
BASIC FUNCTION:
Support the QC department for Laboratory Instrumentation and direct the activities and work assignments of the Metrology Group on a daily basis.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate maintenance and calibration of all lab equipment utilizing Calibration Manager for scheduling.
Calibration and Qualification of Laboratory Equipment.
Provide technical support to the lab, including knowledge of equipment, installation and optimization of equipment, troubleshooting problems and repair on instrumentation.
Negotiation and review of quotes for service contracts and/or equipment.
Assist other departments with technical problems.
Perform or oversee temperature distribution studies for Materials Management.
Train personnel in the use and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
Writing of protocols, procedures and memorandums relating to QC instrumentation.
Evaluation of new instrumentation for future projects ensuring that it meets our user requirements.
Ensuring infrastructure meets facility requirements for new instrumentation (planning ahead).
Revision and creation of SOP’s
Support management during audits and audit responses.
Assist Pii management in the design and organization of new and/or growing laboratories.
Arrange for service of all lab equipment and stability chambers that cannot be repaired in-house.
Perform repairs on HPLC and GC equipment.
Utilize Kaye Lab Watch Monitoring system to monitor temperature and humidity of the stability chambers.
Monitor and respond to alarms generated by the Kaye System related to stability chambers during and after working hours preventing lengthy excursions.
Assist laboratory and QC as needed.
Order parts or supplies related to the repair or maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Review and sign vendor performed qualifications.
Organize and maintain calibration/qualification documents.
Train personnel in the metrology group.
Member of Pii’s Hazmat team. Responsible for Hazardous Material spills.
Member of Pii’s Safety Committee.
REQUIREMENTS:
Mechanical aptitude.
Capable of multi-tasking assignments and adjust easily to changing priorities.
Must be proficient in communication and writing skills.
Knowledge and understanding of the function and repair of analytical instrumentation.
Ability to learn and understand the majority of Instrumentation Operating System.

QUALIFICATIONS:
BS in chemistry or related physical/biological science with 5 or more years of analytical instrumentation/HPLC experience.
