POSITION: Youth Cinema Project Mentor – Part-Time

START DATE: Summer 2023

RATE: $30 per hour, plus mileage

LOCATIONS: CALIFORNIA - Must live within 50 miles from Napa

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates MUST have a minimum of 3 years working in the film industry as a producer, director, or in any below-the-line position.

Candidates MUST have an expertise in at least one specific area of filmmaking.

Candidates MUST have a valid driver’s license and reliable source of transportation.
Travel (up to 50 miles) may be required
Mileage is reimbursed (Driving Bonus currently being negotiated.)

Candidates MUST have a Associate’s Degree or higher

Candidates are comfortable in a school environment teaching children.

DESCRIPTION of POSITION DETAILS:
The Youth Cinema Project is a project-based program that teaches film to children and teens in the classrooms of public schools.

Summer YCP Mentors teach 4 hour film classes, 5 days a week, during regular school hours. Curriculum is provided. Mentors can expect to teach 20-25 hours a week and teach at all times with a co-mentor. Classes range from 4th-8th grade and mentors guide students through the entire filmmaking process for the duration of the school year. The first trimester is focused on writing and development, the second trimester focuses on pre-production and production, and the last trimester on post. Typically the Summer program runs from mid-June to mid-August.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Film School Student/Graduate, a plus
Previous teaching experience, a plus
Internet / Technical and editing skills
Google Suite
DaVinci Resolve, a plus
Basic to advanced working knowledge of camera and audio equipment
Basic to advanced working knowledge of grip and electrical equipment
Basic to advanced working knowledge of film set logistics
Basic to advance working knowledge of film story structure

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach a summer-long film program in the classroom during regular school hours
Commitment to the mission statement and philosophy of the program
Adherence to Mentor Handbook guidelines.
Maintain communication with YCP administration
Attend all YCP training
Conduct inventory of classroom film equipment

Ability to lift or carry 40lbs of film equipment occasionally.
