Medication Assistant (AL) Job at Ativo Senior Living of Yuma
ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Medication Assistant is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure delivery of medications and health related items to the residents within a community. The Medication Assistant maintains medication room in a neat, clean and organized manor. Avoids loss, breakage and waste of supplies and equipment by properly using and storing resources.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Has awareness of and practices in accordance with the regulations of the state and company policies & procedures.
- Provides medication assistance for residents in according to physician orders,
- Ensures eMAR/MAR accurately reflects physician orders.
- Assists residents with activities of daily living, environmental orientation, vital signs, first aid wound care, and communication with third-party providers, according to resident's individual service plans. Documents service delivery and results in resident's record.
- Attends incidents/unusual occurrences, completes incident reports and notifies appropriate parties.
- Observes and communicates any changes in resident physical or mental status. Completes Alert Charting, adding & removing residents as appropriate, documents observations & vital signs in progress notes.
- Maintains current record for each resident, ensuring physician orders are present and in order, third-party provider notes are scanned and filed, and other updated/pertinent resident information is updated/entered both electronically and hard copy per policies & procedures.
- Serves meals to residents restaurant-style in the dining room and provides meal delivery/room-service as requested.
- Assists with gathering residents for activities, outings, meals or other events.

Requirements:Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age
- Prior experience in a caregiver and/or medication assistant role
- Meet the assisted living requirements for criminal history screening
- Pass Abuse Registry Check (where applicable)
- Pass required drug/alcohol screenings
- First Aid and CPR Certification (where applicable)
- Have adequate education, relevant training, or experience to provide for the needs of the residents and be an Arizona Certified Caregiver (certificate required)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to spend long periods of time on feet and to ambulate quickly
- Ability to push and pull wheelchairs, medication carts and other equipment up to 300 pounds
- Ability to physically assist residents weighing 70 - 290 pounds
- Visual and auditory acuity within normal limits
- Bending, kneeling and occasionally reach above the shoulder level and carry up to 30 pounds
- Ability to use office equipment

- Follow mandatory reporting requirements and Resident Rights
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Good verbal and written communication skills. English skills adequate to allow communication with residents and staff and be able to understand written and verbal instructions
- Self-motivation and problem-solving skills
- Must be comfortable with technology and the use of software programs
- Familiar with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
- Ability to multi-task with an attention to detail, prioritize and have excellent time management
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
- Requires minimal supervision, is a self-starter, accurate, dependable, neat & thorough in tasks
