Position Overview

Project manager to develop plans, policies, training materials for the creation of a Medical Operations Coordination Cell plans for the Office of Preparedness and Response at the Illinois Department of Public Health. The purpose of a Medical Operations Coordination Cell is to assist state, regional, local governments have the plans in place to ensure load-balancing across healthcare facilities and systems so that the highest possible level of care can be provided to each patient during a disaster or event where healthcare resources become overwhelmed.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as subject matter expert for the creation of plans, policies, and procedures for a State Medical Operations Coordination plan.
  • Serve as liaison to hospitals and regional healthcare coalitions in the creation of regional Medical Operations Coordination plans.
  • Create or develop presentations, education seminars, tools, templates and other education or training materials to assist in the creation of state and regional plans.
  • Facilitate and conduct meetings with state and local stakeholders relating to medical operations coordination.
  • Review documentation and toolkits related to Medical Operations Coordination Cells provided by other states and federal partners.
  • Engage other state partners in discussions regarding Medical Operations Coordination Cells.
  • Draft a written plan for review.
  • Participate and lead webinars or in person meetings with stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) or a Bachelors in another field with 2 years Registered nursing (RN) experience.
  • An unencumbered Illinois Registered Nurse license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers extensive knowledge in developing policies and procedures, written training materials, power points.
  • Prefers 2 years' experience in the field of emergency department, trauma, and/or critical care nursing.
  • Prefers extensive knowledge of hospital preparedness or medical surge planning and preparedness.
  • Prefers 2 years' experience presenting to large groups in person or virtually.
  • Prefers extensive knowledge of hospital operations, medical surge, disaster plans.
  • Prefers working knowledge of administrative rules regulations.
  • Prefers a working knowledge of National Incident Management System Training - ICS 100, 200, 700, 800.
  • Prefers 2 years experience leading large projects.

This is not a full time position. It is a temporary contractual position that does not onclude any benefits. The term of this contract is for 1 year, however it is "at will" and may be terminated by the State of Illinois (IDPH without notice.
