Description:
Interventional Pain Management practice seeking a Medical Billing & Insurance Specialist with a minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience. This individual needs to possess strong knowledge and skills in the areas of responsibilities as outlined as well as have a friendly, team and people-oriented disposition with a high degree of professionalism.
Responsibilities:
This insurance position will learn and be able to work in Practice’s electronic medical records database (eMD) in order to perform daily responsibilities that include but not limited to:
o Run insurances daily
o Call insurance companies for verifications of new patients
o Get pre-authorizations from insurance companies for medical procedures
o Contact insurance companies for any denials, rejections, or claim errors.
o Adjust invoices for resubmissions
o Maintain insurance files in eMD
o Update CPT & HCPCS codes in eMD billing
o Maintain insurance database in U drive and eMD
❖ Billing for Advanced Spinal Pain Management/Center for Wellness & Regenerative Medicine (ASPM)
o Post payments in eMD for ASPM
o Print Accounts Receivable (AR) report for ASPM and call patients for payment
o Create QuickBooks invoices and reports
❖ Work with billing office (Harlingen) for Aldon B. Williams, MDPA (ABWMDPA)
o Post payments for ABWMDPA
o Post Electronic Funds Transfers (EFTs), post patient payments, post insurance payments
o Post payment vouchers to patients’ account

o Adjust and post payments for remits and scan Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and checks
o Check for Online patient payments
o Work with receptionist (front desk patient payments) on daily till
o Print AR report for ABWMDPA and call insurance companies for payment
o Pull insurance remits
o Correct and balance patients’ bills/accounts
o Write Advanced Beneficiary Notices (ABNs) and payment plans per Dr. Williams’ request
o Update Novitas fee schedule annually
o Correct “Add On Slips” (AOS) or charts for invoicing
o Update yearly fee schedules for 90 percentile and Medicare fees
❖ General Responsibilities:
o Relieve receptionist at front desk on Boerne procedure day, and as needed
o When at front desk, perform all reception tasks such as answering the phone, greeting, and checking in patients, etc.…
o Verify affidavits for records and billing
o Confirm they are notarized
❖ Qualifications:
o Minimum of high school diploma with some college or post-secondary training and/or education preferred.
o Possess strong medical insurance knowledge and experience
o Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
o Possess strong computer and keyboard skills including 10-key.
o Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office.
o Must be willing to learn eMD—electronic medical record technology.
o Knowledge and experience with QuickBooks
o This position will have extensive patient and visitor contact and must be customer oriented.
o Possess a willingness to participate in continuing education and training.
o Individual should be a team player who works well with others.
o Must be able to work under pressure with professionalism.
o Possess good listening skills.
o Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
o Bilingual is helpful but not required.
