Job Title: Quality Engineer

Department: Quality

Accountability: This Position Reports to the Quality Supervisor/Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve customer complaints and concerns
  • Drive continuous quality improvement efforts within the organization
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and lead efforts to improve targeted areas
  • Resolve and prevent quality issues by proactively identifying problems, finding solutions, and implementing action plans
  • Facilitate and promote use of techniques for effective root cause and risk analysis, and successful corrective and preventive action
  • Monitor effectiveness of implemented corrective and preventive actions
  • Ensure Havis’ readiness for internal and external quality audits
  • Collaborate with engineering personnel to determine critical part features and review manufacturability of design, recommending appropriate changes to part specifications and tolerances as necessary to support cost effective production while meeting quality objectives
  • Assist in implementing and upgrading Quality Management Systems as needed
  • Participate in and/or lead internal audits
  • Function as manufacturer’s representative for external audits
  • Ensure all documentation and records are managed according to internal, external and regulatory standards
  • Monitor the controlled document system, to include a final review of all changes to procedures, work instructions, forms, master lists, and other associated documents to ensure quality and certification requirements are met
  • Train employees company-wide in Quality-related processes
  • Effectively communicate and reinforce Havis’ commitment to quality improvement efforts
  • Participate in and/or lead quality reporting and management review process
  • Assist in managing calibrated equipment issuance and maintenance
  • Perform or participate in supplier audits as needed
  • Direct tasks executed within the quality department as needed to support quality objectives
  • Create and maintain PPAP and other customer-required quality documents (FMEA, Control plan, Process flow diagrams, etc.) to meet customer requirements as required
  • Determine when process stability and capability studies should be performed on existing processes, review and analyze results, recommend changes to processes based upon findings, and perform follow up to verify effectiveness


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading quality-oriented process applying the complete DMAIC cycle
  • Experience using calipers, gauges, and related inspection equipment
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015
  • Strong analytical skills in performing root cause analysis, investigation, and proposal of solutions
  • Comfortable presenting findings and recommendations both one-on-one and in meetings
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, production documents, and engineering drawings
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational and record keeping skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to communicate professionally both inside and outside of the company by email and phone
  • Corrected 20/20 vision
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions in English
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively
