Hawker Pacific Aerospace, Sun Valley, CA is seeking a Material Disposition Inspector I to support the Material Inspection department. Selected applicant will be responsible for inspecting rejected or obsolete aircraft parts, assemblies, or materials, to determine disposition, utilizing knowledge of production processes, repair methods, and cost, using precision measuring instruments, to support capabilities provided by Program Engineering for production within the various departments of the company.
A Material Disposition Inspector may be assigned to one or more departments depending upon the company needs at the time.
Essential Duties:
This individual has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned task. May be assigned some or all duties indicated below depending on job progression level.
1. Disposition shop routers while ensuring the correct processes are utilized under the guidance of the governing overhaul manual and customer requirements.
2. Inspects and measures parts to determine nature and extent of defect, using surface plate or table and precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers and dial bore gages.
3. Compares inspection results with specifications and consults with manufacturing, engineering, and other personnel to determine possibility and practicability of salvaging rejected parts, assemblies, or materials.
4. Records inspection results and makes recommendations for disposition of parts, assemblies, or materials.
5. Keep abreast of the latest changes, i.e. AD’s, Service Bulletins, and company programs that may affect the job assignment.
6. Organize and maintain the non-repairable parts (NRP) area.
7. Verify that incoming Sales Orders are complete and understandable, reviewing rejection slips to determine method of inspection and/or repair required.
8. Evaluates inspection data, considering value, costs involved, production delays, quality, appearance, and related factors, and recommends final disposition, such as scrap, return to vendor, salvage, or rework.
9. Compile and review all necessary information to complete a cost advice to determine feasibility of repair of selected components.
10. Assist in the training of other Material Disposition Inspectors.
11. Create, change and implement master task lists.
12. Coordinate technical issues with the OEM, DER, customer, and suppliers.
13. May investigate rejections of parts and assemblies to determine corrective action to prevent recurrence and be designated Material Review Board Representative.
14. Provide job assignments based on the production schedule to ensure the timely flow of parts through the department.
15. Ensure that necessary forms, computer paper, and other required supplies are on hand at all times.
16. Responsibility to work with LEAN Manufacturing principles.
17. Performs other duties as required by business needs.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Certification/Licensure: Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License preferred.
Experience: Landing Gear and MRO
This position may require use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), or both. U.S. Person preferred.
