BASIC PURPOSE

To plan, develop and execute the guest services functions at the Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center (Kroc Center); to all aspects of memberships, programming, events, facility rental, along with the overall exposure of the Kroc Center to the public and business communities; to supervise staff designated for related efforts; to work with Kroc Center staff in determining uses of the venue and its programming to meet the mission of the Salvation Army and the Kroc Center.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop an annual plan for marketing the revenue generating components at the Kroc Center including membership, programs, and facility rentals. The marketing and sales plan will include strategies designed to increase the utilization of these business components, an action plan with established goals, a budget to meet the goals of the plan, and the process to provide regular, interim (monthly) review efforts to identify areas of improvement to the plan.

  • Participate in ongoing research and analysis, in coordination with the Kroc Center administrative staff, of those facility services, programs, and pertinent rate structure, as they may relate to the marketing of the facility.

  • Provide follow-up support for previously procured business, through various leads and as identified in the marketing plan

  • Conduct on-site tours of the Kroc Center as required

  • Coordinate marketing efforts with outside agencies

  • Coordinate and/or respond to request for information from the media. Issue advisories, public services announcements, and press leases for special programming for marketing purposes.

  • Research, write content, and supervise production of projects such as, but not limited to, the Kroc Center newsletter, general facility marketing material, membership and program guides, school marketing materials, meeting facility rental, sponsorship materials, corporate wellness materials, special event support and web site content.

  • Consult with advertising agencies to arrange promotional campaigns in various media venues for products, organizations, and individuals.

  • Responsible for the production and coordination of promotions and advertisements in conjunction with support personnel.

  • Coordinate the promotional activities needed to support the facility and venue-specific businesses, which include the Kroc Center staff on the development of various strategies and programs.

  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with representation of community, consumer, and public interest group.

  • Coordinate the work of photographers, designers, mail distribution companies, web master, and printers in the accurate and timely production of Kroc Center promotional projects.

  • Arrange public appearances, lectures, contests or exhibits for clients to increase product and member awareness and to promote goodwill.

  • Remain aware of similar type organization strategies that influence public opinion or promote ideas, products, and services.

  • Confer with Kroc Center management staff to identify trends and key group interests and concerns or to provide advice on business decisions.

  • Interact professionally in all contact, as required, with the public, business community, and Salvation Army and staff.

  • Create, organize, and facilitate center events such as KrocFest, Open House and Health Fair but not limited to this.

  • Be available to work weeknights, weekends and holidays as may be required.

  • Provide leadership & oversight to Member Services and to all related activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Corps Officer/ Director of Operation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS


  • BA degree from accredited college or university in business administration, marketing, communications, or a related field; or equivalent experience and training.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in similar responsibilities or equivalent in marketing and/or sales of facilities offering similar programs and/or services.

  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience supervising and managing multiple task professional staff and experience in hiring and terminating staff.

  • Have the ability to be flexible, think independently and creatively in managing and problem solving when there is no firm guideline or policy in place.

  • Must have excellent communication skills to communicate and coordinate efforts with the Kroc Center personnel, community leaders, community organizations and the general public.

  • Customer service skills to include complaint resolution principles, practices and procedures.

  • Ability to write, edit and update content for communications collateral such as informational flyers. Skill required:
  • Ability to write with versatility in diverse writing styles.
  • Ability to effectively work independently with limited supervision under tight deadlines.
  • Informational writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
  • Attention to details and grammatical excellence.
  • Project management and knowledgeable management skills preferred.
  • Be dependable and have the ability to seek management help when needed.
  • Be cordial, friendly and professional in carrying out job responsibilities
  • Possess maturity and confidentially.
  • Be able to work with all ethnic and socio-economic population
  • Experience in the Salvation Army preferred
  • Must fully support the mission of the Salvation Army.
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs including Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel. Knowledge and familiarity of PC-based programs including Lotus, In Design, Photoshop, Illustrator or equivalent.
  • Will have the ability to multi-task in handling situations in a cool, calm, and productive manner.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must have ability to empathize, communicate and work with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Authorize The Salvation Army to add name to the CA DMV Pull Notice Program
  • Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.

Or

  • Possession of a valid California Class A or B Driver License with passenger endorsement is preferred, or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The ability to remain at a keyboard for periods of up to two hours with minimal interruption.
  • Ability to operate under stressful working conditions in a rapidly changing work environment with multiple priorities is required.
