Job Summary:
The Marine Mechanic is responsible for the inboard and outboard marine engines including systems installations. Performs tests on specific parts and systems to determine whether they are operating properly. Other responsibilities include working on hulls, decks, small parts, sub-assemblies, and finished boats.
Essential Functions:
- Preparation of mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies on the workbench for final install (e.g. thru hulls, strainers, pumps, manifolds, etc.)
- Installation of mechanical equipment into hull bilge including fresh/grey/black water system components, tanks, engine and propulsion system components, generators, gyro-stabilizers, A/C system components, bow thrusters, windlasses, hydraulic actuators, etc
- Line routing and hookups to mechanical equipment
- Mechanical equipment inspection, testing, and troubleshooting
- Moderate electrical wiring and hookup duties
- Interpretation of GA drawings, assembly drawings and engineering drawings
- Engineering interface, to assist with the design of current and future mechanical systems
- Performs other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED Required
- Minimum 5 years Marine Mechanical experience preferred
- Required 5 years Inboard/Outboard engine installation experience (Mercury OB, CAT, and MAN experience a plus)
- Marine mechanical equipment installation and good troubleshooting skills are a necessity
- Familiarity with all mechanical systems found aboard modern production boats & yachts
- Knowledge of industry standards (ABYC, NMMA, NMEA, etc.)
- Ability to read, interpret electrical drawings and diagrams
- Ability to prioritize, handle multiple duties and projects at once
- Ability to communicate both verbally and written
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to work in non-climate-controlled environment
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
